Kris Kristofferson has passed away at the age of 88. I’ve been a fan of his since Semi-Tough. He was a great actor and played many great roles. He will be missed. R.I.P. Kris.

I have not seen him since the early 80s, but Kris was best buds with my nextdoor neighbor when I lived outside Fort Worth, and always stayed with him when he was in the DFW area. Drank beer with him in the neighbor’s back yard maybe four or five times. Hard to believe that was over 40 years ago. My neighbor was quite wealthy (oil money) and single, a real Playboy character. It was an experience having him as a neighbor. Had another C&W celeb as a neighbor there also, Red Steagall. Lived a few houses away, but I very seldom saw or spoke with him.

RIP Kris.
I Love the story about him landing a National Guard Helicopter at Johnny Cash’s house.
Even if the story and the details tend to change!
That happens with a lot of good stories!

RIP

Saw him and Rita in concert a couple times. One of the greatest wordsmiths of our time. Check out "my sister Sinad" and "here comes that rainbow" with clips from grapes of wrath.

A very impressive guy who was a helicopter pilot in the military then decided to be a songwriter, got a job as janitor at a recording studio hoping it would lead to his songs published which they were. Then he makes his own records and later becoming a really good actor. That’s all pretty amazing. Any political differences I might have with him are irrelevant. Watch him as the corrupt sheriff in “Lone Star” which I think is his best film work. RIP.

Here's a very good article on his life, and what a self created talent he was:

After turning himself into an athlete, Kris Kristofferson needed you to feel the power of a punch.

That is impressive. I had no idea he was so versatile and talented. I just mostly knew of his acting talent and lesser of his music, for instance, I knew he wrote Me and Bobby McGee, but not much else. It’s sad that we learn more about people after their deaths oftentimes.

He was an Army Ranger, or at least went through the training. I believe 165 IQ. His parents allegedly told him he wasn’t part of the family anymore. I can’t verify any of that, but I know he was one of the better songwriters from his early days and on. Just to have dated and married the ladies he was with shows he had good taste, also. I was turned on to Kris’ music in my 20’s, I guess 50 years ago. Competing with Cash, Waylon, Willie, Glazer, etc. it’s best he was a great writer. Geez, RIP Kris
