Many have complained at one time or another where, so I figure it's time to give credit where it's due.
I ordered a couple parts from Washington state that were post marked 11/16/24. I received them in Pennsylvania, yesterday, 11/18/24.
Across the continental US in 2 days, and a weekend to boot.
Well done.

I've had good experiences, mostly, but also bad, with USPS.

The experience that annoyed me most was a few months ago when a buyer sent via certified mail, signature required, a check for several thousand bucks for a Korth revolver I'd sold him. I was tracking its progress online, and was sure to stay home on the day it was expected.

Late in the afternoon I received an email notice from USPS stating that delivery had been attempted but that no one was home. Since I had been there all day waiting, this seemed improbable.

When I checked my front door, a USPS attempted delivery/nobody home sticker was on my door. It stated if I wanted my letter I would need to go to a particular post office and sign for it.

I checked my security system doorcam to see what happened. I saw the postman had approached my door, lightly knocked on the door frame — not the door, the frame, so that no one could hear — ignoring the doorbell, and then immediately, without waiting, stuck the prewritten "nobody home" attempted delivery notice on my door and beat feet.

I went to the post office the next day to get the letter. Took me about an hour out of my day.

Then there was the time it took me about ten months to get back the insurance money for a holster that USPS lost... Turns out USPS subcontracts out their insurance coverage for Priority Mail, and the subcontractor was hard to reach.

But, hey! As I say, most of my experiences with USPS have been good...

Been selling a few things on fleabay lately. Last Friday morning I put 2 Priority mail packages in the mailbox...Monday morning we had to do Billings doc visit. had 2 more packages going out ...the ones I put in Friday were still there..no mail. Came home Monday afternoon...packages gone...finally...and we had Thursdays paper we always get on Friday...Saturday's mail and Monday's mail...and my insurance bill from 17 days ago. I was more than a little perturbed.

^^^^ this!! ^^^^ can't say it never happens, but it's been one very long spell since I've noted ANY decent service..... like most, I could relate anecdote after anecdote of the opposite.

It has been a long time since I ever had any BAD service.

I have to say it's probably like some govmt departments, some schools, some factory management, etc. If you got a good post office, it's good, a bad one it's bad.

I have to admit that for the volume of mail they handle, they do a good job for the most part.
Just last week, however, my pistol grips purchased from a forum member in Texas were delivered back to the sender. He had to ship them again-this time with a different carrier.
I can't figure the USPS out. My mother's regular mail is consistently delivered around 7:00-7:30 P.M. I didn't even know they ran that late.
I'm glad to see Rusty is consistent with his defense.

This, 100%. The post office serving the zip at the last house was an unmitigated disaster.

Since the USPS failed to deliver a check to cover a bill in an adjoining state in 7 business days, I find the OPs experience a massive outlier.

A lot of the delays are the result of sorting centers. Our state capital appears to have several. They must have one of those "All Hope Abandon Ye Who Enter Here" signs over the loading docks.

The only time I had a payment check disappear in the mail was one for my car insurance. Later I found out the it was delivered but fell down behind a file cabinet at the regional office, thus "lost", but not the USPS fault.

Won something on eBay Sunday and projected date for delivery was Saturday. Just delivered 10 minutes ago, 2 days early. Things will probably slow down around December bc of Christmas. Larry
