So at the gun shop and here is a good looking 3913 ladysmith NL. It is a 3913 and looked good inside and out. Is $485 plus tax too much? There is a new 45 M&P compact(next to it) for $90 more. What would you pay for this 3913.
Never had a Smith but looking for fair deal..
Regards.

Are you in Washington state? Are you in the Seattle area? Prices here are often higher than they are in some southern or midwestern states. So if you really like the gun, it might be a worthwhile investment.

My little brother gave (I recall) $335 for his early in '08. Fantastic gun.

First Erich Your Little Bro Underpaid!!
I paid over $425 for my 3913NL & haven't been disapointed in it's carryability & just plain smooth action.. These litle autos are so flat & carry nice, The NL other than the slanted frame also has a Left Side Only safety in the slide
I know I scored a Milt Sparks IWB & four magazines with my deal but have seen alot of folks posting WTB 3913 with little success lately..
$485 is a Bit overpriced IMO..
Saw a 3953 this weekend for $450, Like new!!

FWIW,
Out here in Bill Gates land, the only thing higher than the twenty somethings, are the gun prices! The 3913LS is a sentimental favorite of mine, it's the first auto in 9 MM I ever even thought about wanting? Something about the dust guard just says carry gun to me. I've heard here that they tend to be astoundingly accurate. Of course, that could be due to the quality of the shooters on the Forum that are buying them too! Actually out here, and in excellent condition that's a pretty decent price. You folks gotta' remember what Starbucks gets for a "grande'" or what ever the Hell their large coffee is called?

FWIW:

I bought a NIB 3913LS from CDNN recently for $499.99 (they only had two) and consider the price fair.

These pistols last retailed for $830 and are very popular with folks who like the 3gS line of pistols. (Of which I'm one.)

I'm of the opinion that if you find a pistol you want and the price is a little high then crap, just bite the bullet and buy it. I don't see prices of the 3913LS (or NL) going down because those are very popular models.

I never let a few bucks turn me off from buying anything that I want really bad..

Just personal opinion.

I paid $500 for my NL NIB. I was happy with the price given that they are no longer made.

Apparently the jury is out.. Some say "non-Lady" (as in non-LadySmith), some say "Non-Logo".. I've read both explanations on various forums.

I did read where the NL was only produced for a short time (3 years?) and then someone in corporate decided they wanted the LadySmith line to be be a bit unique, so dropped the NL version.

Since the NL is the exact same pistol as the 3913LS I guess either could be correct.

Happy New Year~

I'm sure that this question has been asked a million times before...but is it difficult to get the "Ladysmith" logo removed from the side of the slide? Does it ruin the finish on the slide?

Also, are the grips the same size? So could one swap out the gray grips for a black set of 3913 grips?

TMann

It has also been said that NL stands for "New Look". TMann - the grips can be switched. The Ladysmith logo is etched fairly deep on my girlfriend's pistol - I can't imagine that that it would look very good if you tried to remove it.

If anybody wants a NEW Black 3913 grip & wants to trade a Like New Grey grip for it give me an email, I have only one extra..
I'm sticking with the black one anyway..

TMann:

Don't worry about your 3913 having "Lady Smith" on the slide.. Extensive testing has shown that the testicles of a man carrying a pistol with the name "Lady" embrossed on it do not decrease in size because of it....

lady smith is not on the gun. I just want to know if $485 plus tax is fair.
If need be I can spend thousands to add to my collection. However,as a conservative re.. money is this too much..

Sorry we got off on a tangent. My personal opinion is that that price is a bit high. (That wasn't at Wade's in Bellevue, was it?) I just purchased a standard (non-NL) 3913 for $375 before tax. The NL models do command a higher price, but that still seems a bit high to me.

I think I paid about 500 for my NL about a year ago, but it had 5 magazines included. It also had the nice carry melt on the safety and slide release. I think there is another thread on the forum about removing the LS logo.

I just paid $650 for a 3913 Lady Smith... but it was NIB and I was excited to get one. I love the angled dustcover design and the pistol has a great reputation. Since it's no longer in production, I didn't mind spending the money to get one. These guns are finally getting the attention they deserve and I think you will have a harder time finding them in the future, as people will be more inclined to hang on to them. If you do find one in good condition and you are in the market, jump on it.

I always wanted one. I like the white grips.
But then I got a 6906, same thing, bit fatter grip, so no reason to get one now that I am gun broke.
Maybe someday..

I believe the Lady Smith and the NL grips came in grey or black.
These are white "Dress Grips" for a 59XX and 40XX series:

I have to add...This is one of those guns that everyone online that says they got rid of one...says it was a HUGE mistake, and they regret it.
That says a heck of a lot about a gun.

Jeff
Someone got rid of the one that I have now...THANKS! You won't get a second chance at this one!

I also recall NL as referring to "NuLine"....that came from a S&W Stocking Dealer when the pistol was introduced.....Zebulon

RV4driver is right about the 3913
I had a 3913LS & traded it toward an HK P7M8 & always missed that sweet slim little carry piece..
When I came across a used 3913NL with 4 magazines & a Milt Sparks IWB rig I had to have it, The rest is History..
I installed a new set of nightsights in it last week & need to get to the range to sight it in before returning PPCSHOOTER'S Sight Pusher..
The 3913NL Is one great Carry piece!!

FWIW... I just bought a regular 3913 on gunbroker and paid $400. 2 mags, no box. By the time I paid shipping and local FFL transfer, I've got $470 in it.

That was a bit more than I wanted to spent, but I was tired of looking for one. I don't regret it. I'll have this for many, many years.
