The tree and train set comes down tomorrow.

My Mom would always keep the tree up until Russian (Orthodox) Christmas. Growing up in Scranton, she said they called it Little Christmas. I don't know if this was an Irish Catholic thing or a Scranton thing.

Orthodox Christmas was the 7th. So I'll take it down tomorrow.

I enjoyed it. But all good things come to an end

And I have no idea why it's sideways. .

Very nice. The 5th is the 12th day of Christmas. So I take mine down on the 6th. A long wait to cut the next one.

In the small town I grew up in we had Serbian Orthodox Christmas, which is also celebrated two weeks after Christmas. The Serbs would go around town shooting their shotguns in the air. The town and most families would take down their trees and decorations shortly thereafter.

In the UK we had the tradition of taking down the decorations and turning the lights off on 12th night, the 6th. I've stuck with that, despite the Vegas thing for many is take everything down before your Christmas dinner is digested. Many don't know how to savor the season out here, for some reason.

In New Mexico Jan.6 is the Feast of Three Kings, El Día de Los Reyes. It's not celebrated as much as the older folks are dying off and taking the old traditions with them.

And Jan. 6 is the anniversary that NM became the 47th state.
