Have you heard about Senate bill s.1317 by Lautenberg? I would prohibit firearms to people on the FBI watch list. Often people are placed on it in error, ask Senator Ted Kennedy who it took 2 months to get his name off it. What hope do the rest of us have since the list is classified and you cannot find out that you are on it or why you are on it etc.
I have a suggestion for Lautenberg, Feinstein, and Leven, if they want us to give up our guns then they should be willing to do the same and do the same for their armed security escorts. It is easy to say "I don't need a gun" when you are surrounded by armed guards protected your every move!

Terror watch list

The good senator is just trying to protect us. He knows that all of those nasty terrorists always go to their friendly neighborhood gun dealer and fill out all the forms before they buy their Kalashnikovs.

Sounds good on paper, feels good to his supporters. Actual impact of the Bill on reality comes in a distant second.

Yeah, I heard Rahm Emanuel pitch this idea via some youtube video awhile back... Sounded stupid then, sounds terrible now.

I mean, there are 2 year old kids that get hung up by the watch list. It's terribly vague and ridiculous.

Lautenburg will always do what he can for his constituents. The unfortunate thing is they mostly consist of inner city trash criminals. They don't want honest folks to be able to defend themselves, neither does Lautenburg.
Hey what do you expect from a guy that converted a regular new interstate lane into an HOV lane. Nobody in NJ works near anyone else, and it almost cost a boat load of money to get out of that nonsense.

Can you people get rid that old Turkey? I thought he was ailing and going to retire again.

When it was announced that T. Kennedy had brain cancer, it was said by his flacks that a early complete recovery was expected.
Stomach cancer is always very serious, in a man of Lautenberg's age (86 born January 23, 1924) damm serious. They say "cureable" sure, but what are the odd's. Meantime he is not at work and neither is "sheets" Bird.

The Gov of NJ is GOP, Oh woe is us, he might get to appoint a Republican Senator..

Wow is that fertile ground for comment. My only thought when it was announced that Fat Ted had brain cancer was that I thought you had to have a brain to have brain cancer, thus leaving Teddy out of it. I won't shed any tears if that bozo Lautenberg croaks. Can we hope for Schumer as well? Don

One of his BS responses to the 2A

I've written him on a number of topics and usually get some tap dance or other. I sent him a couple about firearms so I'm not sure which one he was replying to. But if it wasn't so BS, you could almost laugh at the idiot. I know I told him he should read the constitution. Well, at least he can parrot the words even if he doesn't understand them.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. ( me ):

Thank you for contacting me about gun legislation and the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

As you may know, the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution's Bill of Rights declares a well-regulated militia as "necessary to the security of a free State" and prohibits infringement of "the right of the people to keep and bear arms." Last year the Supreme Court held that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to have guns. I am aware that there are many honest, law-abiding Americans who legally own guns for legitimate purposes.

In the 111th Congress, please be assured that I will work to balance the need to keep firearms out of the hands of dangerous people, while respecting the concerns of law-abiding gun dealers and purchasers.

Thank you again for contacting me.

Sincerely,
(SIGNED) - Frank R. Lautenberg

Lautenberg's idea of "dangerous people" probably includes most of us but allows his private body guards and fellow members of Congress to purchase guns for self protection, something we have, in his view, no need for. Don

Security escorts and body guards

Maybe we should provide them with "Gun Free Household" stickers for their homes.

I have a suggestion for Lautenberg, Feinstein, and Leven, if they want us to give up our guns then they should be willing to do the same and do the same for their armed security escorts. It is easy to say "I don't need a gun" when you are surrounded by armed guards protected your every move!

This bill is apparently taking on some new life. I received an alert from the NRA-ILA to write our Senators opposing this bill. Don't expect that the new Republican Governor of NJ will be overly sensitive to 2nd amendment issues. NJ will continue to restrict the purchase and ownership of weapons, while the gangs take over the streets of their inner cities and spread out to the suburbs.

email your senators your opposition to this bill and let them know your watching their vote.

It is good to see the S&W Forum is on the leading edge of issues!

I agree, write your Senators and Congressmen about this! At least in Mass we now have Scott Brown on our side!
