I don't know. Fact is that the world has changed since 9/11 and that we are under constant threat of an attack.

Where we are currently stationed, crime happens all the time. I'm pretty sure there are some sleeper cells somewhere around here. Plus our service men & women are not allowed to ccw on post... what an easy target...

I don't get politicians....
 
The real terror will begin when they start attacking random places in small towns instead of just big targets in major cities. Say for instance a small dam in a rural county or something along those lines. Then those people who take comfort in the fact that they "live in the country" not the big city will have skin in the game. And it's gonna happen. You want to see local cells-look no farther than the local money laundering enterprises they call convenience stores with the gas pumps outside. Those things mint cash and it all goes back home.

Incidents have been happening right along. I would suspect they will be ratcheted up with the air attacks now. I am retired but when I was a Lockheed guard we automatically doubled up on the gates etc when something like this happened and as I have already been gone almost 15 years I would bet my house were I to check I would find they doubled up with the first news.
We are told that quite a few mid east immigrants have went back to the mid east and some have returned that they cant account for. The Minneapolis area seems to be the main area in that respect. We always would suspect that high population areas would be the first to be hit with terrorism but I actually think that were small farming villages in the mid west and bible belt hit with a half dozen acts of terrorism it would have more nation wide panic effect than military bases or skyscrapers.

I have seen news reports that someone or a group of people have shot at power lines at certain substations in California. :eek: I guess they were trying to cause a large power outage. The authorities stated that it was not the work of teenagers and that it someone that knew what they were shooting at. They also stated that they think it was a trial run. I hate to say it but it is a matter of time before they get lucky.:(
 
Individual or small group attacks are impossible to stop. Once lone individuals or small groups of terrorists make random attacks (and they will) all ----will break loose. All it will take is one slaughter at a school and no govt agency will be able to stop the rage that will be unleashed. The Feds will not respond strongly against the terrorists, in fact they will try and hide the event... but the civilians in this country will rise up, take to the streets with torches and guns and destroy anything and anyone muzzie related, be it a mosque or an individual. Call it mob response or whatever you want, but Joe Public will have his "eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth". Most local law enforcement will stay out of the way because they will feel the same way.

I hope that they are smart enough not to mess with the Bible belt. Talk about wackin the hornets nest with a stick....man it would be ugly. Everybody's well armed.

It wouldn't be ugly, it would be just what they want.....people to hurt. If they don't mind strapping on a bomb what's the difference. Their point is to kill as many as possible before getting killed
 
Ive nothing intelligent to add except--I do hear alot of conversations around here on the subject and yep-most officials would stay out of the way if/when the population gets tired of theis stuff.Twobits "said"it all--as far as local feelings go.

I just finished "Day of Wrath" by William R. Forstchen. It is fiction but given the current ISIS activity in the world, and (allegedly)along the southern border, it is a VERY plausible and scary scenario.

The egos of the elite's in New York, Washington and LA thinking that they are the only ones worth attacking........ sure they make splashy media targets..... but....


Cajun's point has been my fear for years........ 5-6 small teams.... spread around the country.......well trained enough to do fast hit and run vs. suicide attacks... could bring this country to a halt within a few days.

If one team gets shot up....... activate another.... and another

Fear of going to work, the grocery store, gas station, putting your kids on a school bus, or even driving down an Interstate..........

and New York and Washington would find their greatest problem is that trucks aren't delivering what they need to get through the next 48 hours...........

Are you saying the guy with the thick accent that can barley speak English and looks at you like some sort of roach that just crawled in is some sort of jihadist. Holy smokes, where is DHS, NSA and the FBI? I thought they had a handle on that stuff. This just doesn't add up. Are you sure? :rolleyes:

Warnings and predictions of a great number of lone wolf attacks sounds plausible to me. They have sounded plausible to me since 2001. Much to my surprise and relief, not a great deal has occurred. Boston, Ft Hood and a couple failed attempts. Why? I mean... a handful of guys with a few cans of gas and Bic lighters could wreak havoc across the nation.

At this point, a convincing explanation as to why there has been relatively few attacks on the homeland during the past 13 years would be required for me to understand why I should expect more now.
 
Don't know about others but I don't have time to do a 20 page analysis to present a theory and give you a "convincing explanation...."

But some points to consider..........

1) First there have been more than "a couple of failed attempts." Explosives stopped at the Canadian boarder intended for LAX..... the FBI has claimed to breakup numerous plots to do violence.

2) Others have been successful..... but not widely reported... the Fox reports last week on the teenager killed in northern NJ "for what the US did in the middle east"..... the guy who shot up 2 recruiting stations several years ago..........

3) ISIS..... has at least 2 billion dollars and is selling a half to a million dollars of "oil" a day on the black market.

4) ISIS has 10,000-15,000 European and American fighters/passports.

5) A lot of discontent and unemployment in this country's minorities.......

6) ISIS is using social media to get it's propaganda to the world and to recruit.

7) People who are willing to cut off heads ....... are bat *** crazy!!!!

8) In the last 48 hours the media has been reporting on another terrorist group...the successors to OBL..... who are looking to reassert themselves vs. ISIS.

It will be a couple years yet before we ever hear of a domestic terrorist attack from the Nationalized Press. Just last weekend I heard once again how Islam is the religion of peace. Can't remember which station it was on or which politician was repeating that Party line as it all tends to run together after a while. Probably will not be a "terrorist" attack until they hit a broadcast office somewhere.
