Lead Ban Proposed...Bullets, Shot and Fishing Tackle

It will affect everyone after this step. One step was steel shot for waterfowl wherever one hunts. Next is steel on Federal land and then steel everywhere. It's done one small step at a time. Game Wardens can come on private land too check for fishing and hunting violations so hunting on private land and fishing in backwater fishing holes and lakes does not make one exempt from the rules. You don't have to let a police officer in your house if he doesn't have a warrant. If you own a private pond in the middle of a 50 acre private parcel, can you refuse access to an officer as well? (just a question, I dunno)

"In your house is way different than "on your property. . . " If an officer is trying to get "in your house," he/she is already "on your property . . ." And while obtaining the warrant, they may remain outside your house.

In Missouri, conservation agents are not considered to be trespassing while investigating potential game violations on private property. Around here, most if not all dove hunting is done on private property, and conservation agents regularly check hunters for violations . . .

In Illinois a game warden can enter private property if they have reason. That's what I've always heard. They have come on private property and checked us out in the past. Just checking for license, etc. We weren't doing anything wrong.

California started with condor zone ,no lead bullets, well the decided that it was all Raptors were affected and low and behold no more lead bullets except for range shooting.I think given the current anti hunting and gun agenda in ca the ranges are there next target, thank goodness I reload

"Hester v. United States first introduced the doctrine that the Fourth Amendment protection does not extend to open fields. Governmental intrusion and information collection upon open fields do not constitute searches or seizures under the Fourth Amendment. Expectation of privacy in an open field is not considered as reasonable or legitimate, even if there are fences or "no trespassing" signs around the field. Open fields may include any unoccupied or undeveloped area outside the curtilage. "

This is how Wildlife officers are able to enforce laws on private property. Same way drug officers can search for growing marijuana. In NC we called it the open fields and woods exception to search warrant requirements.

The Biden Administration is proposing a ban on all lead projectiles and fishing tackle by 2026.
This is going through...game and fish.
From what I understand it's in the discussion phase at the moment.

This makes no sense. Who or what is eating lead sinkers? This will ruin the clay target sports. You can't run steel through your $10K Perazzi without stretching out the chokes.

I was president of a large Trap and Skeet club, and we mined our lead for profit.

I would be more concerned about the hazardous waste from electric cars and solar panels:mad:

Any kind of cop can come up with a reason to access your property. You can go on record as objecting and use that later in a civil action against them. But how far you want to go with an argument to deny them access is up to you. Don't get yourself in a jam over what kind of gear you're using.
