Lead Handgun Bullets?

Just curious, but why do you prefer flat based bullets? Seems to me like a very slight bevel around the bottom edge would help with centering/seating and reduce the possibility of shaving lead off the bullet in the seating process.

With the expander die properly set, I NEVER shave lead with flat based boolits.

After having fine-tuned my bullet casting setup after 50 years, the only time I BUY bullets is to try a different flavor so I know what new mold to buy. In those cases, the best vendor I ever used was:

Mastercast Bullet Co.
292 Anderson Road
Enon Valley, PA 16120-9301

Excellent quality, awesome customer service and a good price.

That's MY recommendation.

Another fan of ACME and Missouri cast/coated bullets. Missouri started offering coated semi bullets without the grease grooves, and offers this specialty
Missouri Bullet Company

ACME is more local and offers very nice 9mm 147 fp.
9mm 147 FP-NLG Coated

People may prefer flat bottomed bullets to decrease the leading, especially with hot loads. A lot of companies bullets appear the same, as they use the same molds.

Over 15 years ago Bear Creek Supply started sponsoring my SASS Club's 3 day match with several hundred (probably several thousand) 100 count sample bags in every "Cowboy" bullet they make. I have loaded them in 32-20, 38 Special, 44 Special, 44-40, 45 Colt, 45 S&W Scofield, 45 ACP, & 45-70-400. When I needed bullets for 38-55 and 45-90-300 I ordered the diameter I needed and, in a few days, they were at my door step in Ohio, all the way from California!

The 38-55-255 were loaded over Trail Boss in a load that was "Volume Specific" to virgin Starline Brass. (never compress Trail Boss) Using A modern Lyman Tang sight and a Lyman 17 front globe on my 2005 manufactured Winchester 1885, I shot a 100-yard, 20 shot group of 1/2" outside diameter! You can't beat that with a stick!

I also ordered in a 500 box of 45 rifle bullets for my 1886 in 45-90-300. I got a very similar performance with the 300's!

Bear Creek Bullets are Moly coated. I wasn't too sure about the coating and lead bullets. I wasn't sure until I loaded a match's worth, and they shot so much better than any other commercial brand I've tried!

I don't blame him.
I had ordered a box of bullets, and the postman left them in the neighborhood mailbox cluster unit about a block away from our house.
My petite wife packed it home, the whole way telling herself it's only twenty pounds, it's only twenty pounds...
She was actually relieved when I told her the box was just under the sixty-pound limit. Still not happy with me but relieved she wasn't as weak as she feared.
