Setting up my Lee Progressive Pro 1000. Got it running EXCEPT I cannot get the auto disk to throw powder, or if it did, it was inconsistent and very low.

Adjusted the chain several times, think I got that right. Disk would move, but no powder would be in it to drop.

Finally walked away.

Suggestions?

Not to insult you in any way, but have you checked to make sure the powder measure is turned on, so powder can flow through at the bottom? I had this happen to me a few times!

I like these Lee measures.....

Also, the disc might not be properly inserted. Without the hopper attached, cycle the loader and look to make sure the proper hole in the disc is pulled above the outlet hole in the powder measure.

The disc might seem to be properly attached, when it's not... happens to me once in a while.

Another thing to check is to make sure the hopper is pointing in the right direction. One side of the hopper assembly is rounded, the other side is flat. The flat side goes toward the hole. When installed properly, you can easily see the hole that the powder drops into the die through. If it is backwards, the hole is covered by the curved portion of the hopper assembly.

I did that when I first got my auto disk.

x2, The reverse has also happened at disassembly to me. ( I.e. Leave it open and dump powder everywhere). I've since put sticky labels on the base and hopper to show clearly where it's set.

The next test (once you've checked for above) would be to manually operate the chain and then see if it works.

Ruffbird, no insult taken. That was a problem encountered earlier:). And putting the hopper on backwards....
Emptied the hopper and cycled the press while looking down through the hopper. When the disk came to its final position under the hopper, only a very small portion of the hole was visible. Even when manually operated. I ended up removing I very small part where the back of the lever stopped against the mount. It allowed the lever to pull down a little farther, and the disk to move under the hopper.
It's been throwing a consistent, accurate amount of powder.
Picture to follow.

Actually that area you are pointing two will eventually wear a groove. It is supposed to be kept lubed. Once it wears a groove it will throw off the powder drop.
Unless yours had some deformed piece from casting there should never be a reason to grind file or hack away . I have read many "DIY" fixes on Lee powder measure such as reaming holes in the drop tube area and the discs themselves.

A call or E mail to Lee solves the problems correctly.

I have had good luck with Lees service. Contact them and tell them your problem. I bought a press used and the hopper had a crack in it. I contacted them and told them I bought it used. They sent me a new one for no charge.

The alignment of the drop hole in the disk with the hole in the bottom of the hopper is controlled by how far in or out the die body is screwed into the turret.

This is true, AND, if your using an already flared case it will not move the disk as far. If removing that little bit of metal fixed a bind of some sort GREAT. Load ON....

LEE stuff if fantastic!!!!
