Lest We Forget

This wall at the WWII Memorial in Washington contains these stars, each representing 100 American service members killed or missing in action in that war.

I had the opportunity to visit the memorial for the first time a few weeks ago. It is incredible, moving, and thought-provoking.

I would like to have been there today.

Should things ever return to normal, seeing this memorial is on my bucket list. My maternal grandfather served as a tank commander, three of my paternal uncles also served. A 2nd cousin parachuted into Normandy during the D-Day invasion. The greatest generation...without question...who could begin to compare?
