I have a 617 that I'm thinking of doing some work too.. optics, grips, etc to start.

I know there's a bunch of ya'll that target shoot your 22's. Doesn't matter what brand or whether it's a wheel gun or bottom feeder... just looking for ideas and love to see pictures!

Colt Challenger is my favorite by far and very close 2nd would be my 617.

I also HIGHLY recommend a Browning Buck Mark over a Ruger MK series pistols. I have three Buck Marks and all of them are not ammo picky. The Ruger is. Also the Challenger is not ammo picky either. I can run uncoated round nosed in it without issues same for the Brownings. If you are on a budget, do not look past the S&W 22a.

This 1980 Model 41 is a fine target pistol...

...but honestly doesn't shoot any better than this 1979 Colt Woodsman...

...or it's shorter companion from 1950...

But all of those are overshadowed by the accuracy of this 1954 High Standard Supermatic S-101...

I love the buckmark's great shooters and a good value

Here are mine...

First up is my Marvel 22 build for me in 2006 by RRA:

Next up is my Unique DES 69, which I only use informally when I need to practice open sights. It is now wearing a pair of Rink grips:

This is my Unique DES/VO UIT Rapid Fire Pistol in 22 Short. No longer legal in UIT shooting, it is now just for fun:

Perhaps not my favorite, but probably my best shooting target 22.
The target was shot today at 40yds, offhand, isosceles

My latest addition to the target .22 fleet

I'm not sure how I managed this target, I was not having a easy time with this gun today.

To whomever said BuckMark jam-o-matics were less finicky than Rugers,
I would love to meet up with you at the range one day and prove you wrong :D
There is a reason I have a small fleet of Rugers and only a single token Buckmark.

I just might have a .22 problem

I always take a .22 to the range. I have quite a variety of .22 pistols and revolvers. I also really like the Browning Buckmark in all forms. Like my S&W 41s, Ruger MkIIs...........

Group picture

SS Ruger MkIIs 10", 6⅞",5½"

S&W 41 7⅜"

S&W 41 5½"

Browning Buckmark 14" Unlimited Silhouette

Browning Buckmark 7¼" Bullseye

S&W 22A

This Hamden made High Standard Victor is probably the most accurate repeating handgun I have owned. The Ruger MK ll target model with the ugly scope & mount is also a very accurate gun, and has accounted for a lot of small game.

Here are mine:

1. S&W K 22, made 1948.

2. S&W Model 41, made 1958. I campaigned this one for several years on the US Army Air Defense Command pistol team.

3. High Standard Supematic, model S-101. One of these taught me to shoot a pistol.

4. Hammerli/Walther Olympia, 22 short. This design won the rapid fire match at the Berlin Olympics, in 1936. There were no Olympics in 1940 or 1944. In the London Olymics of 1948, everybody wanted the Walther for the rapid fire match, but Walther was in occupied Germany, unable to produce firearms. they licensed the design to Hammerli who produced it for several Olympics until eventually outmoded.

All are a LOT more accurate than I am.

5. Hammerli Model 103 free pistol. Marked 1948 London, 1952 Helsinki, so probably made between 1952 and 1956. Challenging to shoot, to say the least.
