Man I have seen some beat up guns, but thats terrible that they sent you guns that bad.
the ones I got came just the way they look in my picture, but if they had come as bad looking as yours,i would have sent them back.
thats a bummer they treated you like that.

I expected them to have a few scratches and dings, but I didn't expect them to look like they were used as hammers, or rode in the floorboard of a squad car. I'm sure if I had sent them back I would have had to pay shipping, so I'd still have been out some $$$.

Neither of my former police dept. issue M66's look like that, and the third personally owned(by the officer) M66 duty gun isn't beat up.

sometimes you just get burned.

its still a bummer that you got burned.
I talked to one of there salesman once about a gun I bought from them and it wasn't the grade i paid for and they told me that if I had called them within 30 days, they would have payed to have it shipped back to them and send me another one that would be checked before it was shipped back to me.
problem is I didn't find out about that policy until it was to late.

I didn't know that either. I figured shipping would have been on me. Oh well, at least they're all square butt.

Im getting ready to have one of my M65 4" cut down to 3" and have a new sight installed.
was the sight on your gun made for that type of conversion or is it off another model of gun and if so which one??

The front sight is from a 3rd Gen S&W Auto and the dovetail in the barrel was specifically cut for that sight.

courtyard:

The smith that did the work for me is Craig Maraviov in Woodland, CA. Craig used to work for Bill Davis Company and this was one of the ported barrels he made when he worked there (Prior to S&W bringing out their "Power Port" barrels). Basically it's very similar to the factory S&W Power Port and was milled into the factory 3" barrel with the dovetail cut specificaly for the S&W auto sight. I believe Craig still does them and can also shorten your barrel from 4" to 3". It shoots great!!.

Great chance to show my latest purchase, 65-2. It was bought from a forum member to be used as a truck/Jeep gun. After I got it, I thought it was almost too nice to throw under the seat.

The front sight insert was done very well, but I think it has to grow on me. It's nothing a milling machine and a dovetail can't fix.

Ex - Topeka PD M65 carried by my father as a Sergeant in Detectives. The holster is an original Roy Baker pancake that TPD gave Dad with the piece.

When Dad retired in December 1990 he bought it from the department for $125, i got it after he passed in 2001. It's currently semi-retired to the dresser drawer, doing home security work on the side.
