Let's Share M18 pics

No dashes

This one dates to 1958 by the book, but not lettered. Has the right box box but the grips don't number :( I might get buried with this one :)

I have always wanted a Model 18 but the cost always stopped me. I am envious of you folks and your beautiful revolvers.

My younger brother-in-law has his grandfather's Model 17-2. About ten years ago I tried to talk him out of it so I could swap out the 6-inch barrel for a 4-inch thereby creating a home-made Model 18. I even found and bought the barrel. But, no joy. He still has the 17-2 with its original barrel and I have a nice pinned barrel sitting in my safe. Maybe I should just go looking for a real Model 18.

18-3

My 18-3. Bought from the estate of a dear relative (WWII airman) with original box, docs, tools, and sales receipt. I also have the Model 67 that he purchased at the same time. Both are in like new condition.

Midland, Texas Police Department

"a refinished silver no dash that letters to the Midland, Texas Police Department. It is mentioned on page 217 SCSW 4th Edition. I don't know what the silver refinish is, perhaps hard chrome, but it shows no wear and the cases never stick in the chambers."

Interesting. I live in Midland.

Mine was shipped in December 1952 one week before I was born. I just put some non relieved target grips on her but can't find a photo. Enjoy.

My first one was nice, about 90% and shot great. Then my client, who owns a pawn shop called and said that he had something that I needed.

I paid the same amount for the second one that I had paid for the first one and then sold the first one. The second one is 95%, plus and an equally great shooter.

The bottom one is my 18-3 purchased last year, I had to install a new cylinder stop and also put the smooth combat trigger on it.
A very nice gun to shoot, good cheap gentle practice for the new 19-9 "Classic" above it. Both of the blued guns have Eagle "Heritage" grips which look much like the S&W Altamont grips on the 66 but feel much better. $$

If this is a faux pas you can kick it, but I wanted to contribute. I recently let a dear friend talk me out of my 1964 model 18. Yes, I know... I replaced it with this one. I've not seen many of these. It's a 4" model 17-7. At least I'm back in a K Frame combat .22
