I own a S&W New Model 3 .32/44 target and was thinking about requesting a letter. Firstly, I'm in the UK, would you send the information across the pond? Second, How would I pay? I read that $108 would be the sum to pay and finaly, how long would the letter take to research and send?

I can't tell you precisely how long the wait will be, but I can tell you that SWHF historian Don Mundell is cranking out the letters in record time...You can email your request form directly to Mike Helms at [email protected] who will invoice you via Paypal...It's quick and easy, or you can use snail mail if you don't mind the additional wait......Ben

Link to request form for him?

As an aside, the "deep dive" into the foundation's treasure chest pays off like a slot machine every now and then----and every now and then it doesn't!

The good news is, unless they've changed, the search is free for nothing, and when they strike pay dirt, the charge for copies comes under the heading of chump change.

I could go on running my mouth with tales of what they've come up with, but suffice to say it's fascinating-----a trip back in time!!

rickyt...The S&WHF would be happy to provide a letter of authenticity for your New Model Number 3 revolver. You can pay via PayPal if that is convenient, but I am sure Mike Helms can help if it isn't. Please understand that lettering antiques takes longer than other S&W firearms due to records access and could take up to six months (possibly less).

Many thanks for the replys chap's, I have downloaded the request form and will take it from here. I dont supose anyone will know how this piece got to the UK but at least a letter will show when it was shipped to a dealer in the States.

I have decided to go ahead with the letter . Have downloaded the form again and will fill it in and send it off to Mike Helms. Might take a day or two as I'm very busy with work at the moment but I think I'm doing the right thing as I'm proud to have my NM3 Target 32/44 in my collection and the letter will be the "icing on the cake".

Just sent off my application this morning. Hopefully will get a reply with details of payment and eventually my factory letter.

I got my letter yesterday, been a slight delay at the office but Don was quick to sort it out.
Fabulous information and a "must have" for my treasured possession. Many thanks.
