Leupold Deltapoint 2

Deltapoint 2

I just got off the telephone with leupold technical assistant people. This is what they told me about the delta point 2, they are NOT going to make any DP2. They have designed a few more goodies in it and now they are calling it DELTAPOINT PRO. It will not be in production until sometime in 2015. I think that is a bunch of B***S*** they figured out they were not asking enough for the DP2 when they kept saying it will be same price as DP1. I am really disappointed in leupold. I guess I will have to buy something else. Guess what leupold I was buying 2 of them not now.

Hailing seen the DeltaPoint PRO today, the glass is bigger than the DP2 glass. It doesn't go out like the DP1, but the DP2 pics showed a very Docter like optic.
The PRO looked great, but the big news will be the new red dot (AIMPOINT-like 1.25-1.5MOA dot inside an EOTECH square glass--whole unit is square--size of an EXPS2 without then artery compartment.
Also there's a scope type things that mounts behind red dots, but looks around them--you don't have to move your head to look through it. Just glance down and you see what you were looking at with the red dot (the pro mounts on top of it if you want--or run something in front) with 6X. This stuff will be pricey.

Just from looking at the pictures, it looks like the DP Pro has a god-awful tint (just like the RMR does) in the name of "coating"...I liked the DP originally because of the clear (seemingly tint-less) glass, not really wanting to look through a yellow or blue filter...

Wondering, since it is on the Leupold Site, when it actually will be available, will it mount up on a Pro9 C.O.R.E. using the DeltaPoint 1 adapter plate that came with the C.O.R.E. -- AND -- will it co-witness the iron sights of the Pro9 C.O.R.E.? (from the picture, the answer to my last question looks like NO).

AFIK no one has actually gotten their hands onto one of those so any answer would be supposition.

Spoke with Leupold this afternoon. The DeltaPoint Pro goes into production in April 2015. Orders (9000) will be shipped to Military and LE first. So I figure I would not be able to order one until June 2015.

Leupold in restarting production of the original DeltaPoint in December 2014.

New Leupold Pro may not fit the C.O.R.E.

Below is Leupold's answer to my question about whether or not the new Leupold Pro will fit the C.O.R.E. -- I hate to wait that many months if it is not going to fit -- perhaps a new mounting bracket will answer that need:

Michael,

The Delta Point Pro is going to be larger than the original Delta Point. At this time I do not believe it will fit on the M&P CORE without a separate mounting bracket.

As the DP Pro is a bit out I do not know what mounting options are going to be available.

Best Regards,

Ryan

DP Pro won't cowitness

I had also asked Leupold early last week about cowitnessing with the DP Pro. They responded this morning stating, "I am sorry to say, after testing the Delta Point Pro on the Core, currently it will not co-witness."

re New Leupold Pro may not fit the C.O.R.E.

It would appear that Leupold has "improved" the DeltaPoint to the extent that nobody will want it.
