Saw this today at a local store and I am curious to know how old this Model 36 revolver is, and what condition / value would say it is in. I think I've read on hear that the "J" prefix puts it after 1968. Thankful for advice/ opinions. The serial # is J153939 Asking price almost $600.

Here you go from SCSW ed. 3.

Your photos are not the best; however, it is easy to see the gun has cosmetic issues. If the bore and chambers are clean and the gun is mechanically sound, it is at best a $275.00-$300.00 revolver.

I bought 2 about the same age and in the same condition from an LGS about a year ago. I paid $450 each. The asking price of $600 for this gun is high.

It's your money but I wouldn't pay anything close to that amount for one in that condition. You should be able to find one in pretty pristine condition for $600.

as others have said, too high

that said, for 325 that would be a great carry piece that you don't have to worry about

The Magna stocks are nice at least, but not enough to raise it's retail value $300. But those are nice guns, mine's a front pocket carry when I take it along. For me it's one of those up close and personal revolvers, although 15 yards I can hit torso on the target...12" groups! The model 60s are nice, too, if you like it in stainless. Thanks for sharing the pictures.
