Folks,
I have a Handgun Hunter International Ruger SuperBlackHawk .44mag. 3 times out of 100, it fails to ignite the primer. It came modified, with Magnaport, 6" barrel, Metaloy finish and a lightened and smoothed trigger. Anyone know the minimum Spring weight I need to get 100% ignition?
Thanks!

If you're using reloaded ammunition, you need to check your primer seating. The Blackhawk has a really heavy hammer, and plenty of hammer energy. I suspect your ammo is the culprit.

Do they fire on the second strike? That's usually an indicator of high primers, 1st strike seats 2nd goes boom.

None fire on the second strike. If I put them in my 29-2, they all go bang. I seat all primers on a Dillon, and have yet to have a high primer. The indent from the Ruger is barely a dimple.

I'd start by installing a factory full power Ruger mainspring. If that doesn't do it then try a new firing pin. After that a trip to a good Ruger smith may be in order to find out what got done that shouldn't have been done.

First, diagnose if it is the gun or the round itself that is the problem. It's not inconceivable that 3/100 rounds would be bad in a reloaded batch or in a box of cheapo plinking ammo.

If it is the gun, I would try an extended firing pin, such as the one made by Apex Tactical.
