Good morning everyone,I have a 9mm Pro Series that the previous owner used for IDPA with reloads. I'm having a problem with light strikes, Im not competing nor buying reloads, but when the only thing available at the range are fiocchi 124gr it get annoying, blazer brass work pretty well but not always available.

Anyway my question is: what is the factory spring weight for the firing pin for the M&P 9mm pro series? If I change that spring should I also replace the recoil spring to factory?

Thanks in advance

oldLawman forgot to mention that part, already done, took i out to inspect if it was damaged and cleaned both assembly and channel.

Yes replace both springs with factory springs. A call to S&W may get you free replacements/

torombolo,
I had the same problem after many IDPA matches with my Pro, and I solved it by replacing the entire striker assembly and the plastic sleeve it fits in. On microscopic examination, the tip of the striker was slightly chipped. I made a tool to remove the plastic sleeve.
The recoil spring is irrelevant to the problem.

Also, check the timing of the trigger. Many people who do Apex sear and striker block replacements in IDPA and don't get the timing correct. What happens is that the striker block doesn't completely clear the striker and slows the striker causing light strikes. One way to check is use a sharpie to color the striker, fire it a few times (dry fire works the same as live fire) and then look at the striker and see if the sharpie marks are worn off. Apex Tactical has some good videos regarding adjusting the trigger bar loop to make sure your striker block clears the striker completely. Good luck. I've dealt with this problem a few times. The first time was the most frustrating, but after figuring it out it becomes easier.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will try to diagnose and understand completely before installing replacement.

This was my issue with light primer strikes. I cleaned the striker channel and striker then I had to adjust the trigger bar loop on my MP 9c

I also had light strikes but only with Fiocchi. 115 gr to be exact. I think they use a harder primer. I do have an Apex comp striker spring in, but Fiocchi was the only ammo I was having issues with. Cleaning the striker and striker channel fixed the issue for me.

Funny I was using Fiocchi 115gr as well

I've had one light primer strike out of hundreds if not a thousand rounds through my M&P 9 Pro. The ammo was either Perfecta (Fiocchi) or Freedom Ammunition.
