A Mini-14 is bad but I guess a Mini-30 is good, or did they just not think of it. Is anyone surprized? Anyone who didn't expect this must have been living on another planet.

Guess I'm going to have a lot of room in my safe.

Where does this "sporting purpose" crap come from. All these people that want to
ban "assault weapons" don't know the difference between a rifle and a pitchfork. I hope that all the congressmen that vote for this send their kids first to pick up weapons, THAT should be the law.

CURSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They even want to ban the shoulder thing that goes up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dastardly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why don't they realize that if they outlaw the shoulder thing that goes up, then only outlaws will have shoulder things that go up???????

(sigh)

So here's what we do.
To skirt around the ban, let's all get our Leupold-mounted .41 derringers converted to BELT-FED!!!!!!!!!

HAH! Just shows to go ya, I ain't as dumb as I AM.

On a serious note: Those idiots have to realize the can of worms they'd be opening if they tried to enforce such a sweeping legislation. Maybe I'm missing the boat here but somehow, these extremely educated people have somehow gotten the misguided idea that a bunch of laws passed are some kind of magic talisman that'll make the selected problem suddenly disappear.

You see how much it really matters to them when one witnesses their apathy when the facts bear out that their magic talisman turned out to be a worthless trinket.

I gotta know. What exactly is it about a pistol grip (and much worse, TWO pistol grips) that makes a firearm more deadly?

Morons!

It is interesting what is prohibited and what isn't. During the loophole in CT.'s State AWBs -Gov. Weicker to Gov. Rowland (2003), I managed to purchase 2 AKMs legally. The state allowed SAR 1 rifles to be sold legally for a few years until the State Police became involved. The SAR1 was legal because while it had an evil pistol grip and was Hi-Cap, the bayonet lug had been ground off and the barrel was neither threaded nor tipped with a flash suppressor. How many victims of AKM bayonets can anyone document in America? It had the required US parts, but the State Police convinced Republican Governor Rowland that SAR1 vs. AK is purely semantics, ie, an SAR1 is an AKM, already banned in CT. Duh....Anyway, I did what was required in 2003. I registered my pistol-gripped WMDs with the CT. DPS (and had to surrender prints) rather than having the unregistered rifles being declared "contraband" and subject to seizure. Last year, a friend of mine had his AR confiscated by his local police after his estranged wife dropped a dime on him that he was in possession of an unregistered AW. He was initially charged with a D felony, until he provided documentation that he had legally purchased the AR before Rowland's more comprehensive State AWB, resulting in seizure. He'll never see that gun again, the peril of not registering with the DPS. The most amazing thing I learned during this whole distasteful second State AWB is the fact that while the DPS authorizes firearms transactions in the State, they have no right to check the paperwork in their possession to see if anyone having purchased an AW during the loophole had, in fact, registered with the DPS. Some freedom is still intact, anyway. So, "AK-TYPES" are banned in Connecticut. Guess what, the CT. Law defines AK-TYPES as chambering 7.62x39. The other caliber AKMs are still legal. Thankfully sometimes, the morons writing these laws have no idea what they are doing.
