Is anyone here a subscriber to loaddata.com? Looking for something that has a little more info than the reloading manuals that I have, which don’t have much info for plated or coated bullets. I’m getting into reloading hi tek coated and looking for a little more info than is found in my 2 Speer, Hornady and Lee manuals. Looking for more info on Unique and Bullseye and OAL. Thanks in advance.

I subscribed some time ago to see what it was about but didn't really need to. It's most beneficial to those handloaders who haven't subscribed to HANDLOADER and RIFLE magazines for years (much of the data comes from articles in those magazines) and/or don't have an extensive collection of handloading manuals.

It's best for experienced handloaders. Some of the data is quite dated, though still useful, but...one may find old non-pressure tested data that was developed by the author of a particular article; "safe in the test gun" and all the other warnings, etc. If you're experienced to the point you can deal competently with such information, the website may be worth subscribing to.

I don't think you'll find a lot of good data on painted, plated, coated, etc. bullets, but an experienced handloader should be able to work up safe loads for these by studying other data from reliable sources. Good luck-

I paid for a sub but found there was just as much data out there for free. Many of those loads are from published load manuals.

Coated bullets use the same load data as any lead bullet. Bullet manufacturers usually tell you that.

I went with 100% coated lead about 5 years ago. No issues using lead load data.

Plated I can't help you with because I've never used them.

What he said. There is so much free data. Why would anyone subscribe.

Use the data given for cast bullets ... coated bullets are simply coated cast lead and the powder coating is not hard , like a metal jacket , so you simply use lead / cast data .

Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook 4th Edition is in print . It contains data for moulds made by Lyman , Lee , RCBS and Saeco (Redding) along with some new powders not listed in the older 3rd Edition .

The older 3rd Edition has data with older powders .

Unique and Bullseye are well represented in both the 3rd and 4th Editions .

Your only other good option is the 1986 RCBS Cast Bullet Manual #1 , good manual but hard to find .
I believe they had one printing and that was it ...it would be nice if someone would do a reprint ... it is one of my favorite cast bullet reloading manuals .

I also bought one of the RCBS manuals when they came out; sort of an oddball among load manuals and there's not much to it, but I still refer to it occasionally as there are some useful (and maybe obscure) loads. Can't have too many paper load manuals.

There are several sites on line that I have used including theirs. Without a subscription, they show you everything but the amount of powder used. I don't really rely much on theirs anyway. As has been stated here, look for the closest thing and maybe lighten the charge a little if you are concerned.

I've subscribed to Loaddata for several years, but I haven't seen any specific powder-coated data there. As others have noted, powder-coated bullets are loaded like the equivalent non-coated cast bullet.

Re Loaddata.com.... it used to be much better. It incorporates data from the excellent articles in Handloader magazine over the years, and so had much interesting data. However, in the past year or so, the site has started purging any older data that does not strictly conform to "current" SAAMI pressure limits, which for many cartridges are artificially low. The next effect is that it is hardly more useful than current manuals, including various free online data from Hodgdon or Alliant. It does have the advantage of displaying data in a convenient format across the spectrum of various bullet and/or manufacturers.

I wasn't aware they were purging old data, but I can see their point in doing so. I found the old data useful for comparison if nothing else. I only subscribed for a year and that was ten or more years ago. They used to have a lot of oddball, wildcat, and improved cartridges listed, data you seldom if ever saw in online sources.
