A report of large scale marijuana growing operations. According to one of his fellow officers, whom we talked to last night, the Deputy was hit four times with 7.62x39 rounds and managed to return fire, hitting his attacker twice, with his handgun, at approximately 50 yds.

This discussion came about because I was asked if we would be willing to donate the use of the local American Legion Hall for a fund raiser for the officers family. Obviously the answer was yes.

The officer is surviving at this point but please be praying for him and his family. They have a long road of surgeries ahead from the sound of things at a minimum the officer is expected to loose the lower part of one leg.

Thoughts and Prayers

I hope he recovers fully.

That is an incredible story. The fact the he returned fire after being hit 4 times and hit the BG with his pistol from 50 yards, applied a tourniquet to himself and crawled back to his SUV, and survived.

Sounds like the BG had a vest on. Be interesting to hear the rest of the story.

I hope the officer makes a full recovery.

It should be a law that a person that shoots an officer would get the death penalty immediately after trial.

We will keep him and his family in our prayers when a Brother in Blue goes down we all feel the pain, i pray he recovers fully..

Absolutely! A true warrior indeed. My prayers to him and his family for a swift recovery.

Walnutred, any idea if there is a need for blood donations for the officer? Thanks.

Kenny

That never even occurred to me, I'll make some calls and find out. Good thought.

Prayers to family and friends. Courage and mindset like that is amazing.....and Thank you for helping out!

Our prayers and thoughts to the officer and his family. The dirtbag deserves a short rope and a tall tree but we will most likely just wind up feeding and housing him for years to come, such is the state of our "justice" system.

Just saw a picture of the perp's wife. If you want to find her in the picture dictionary, look under "Meth-head".

Nice to see that the Ohio media still describe semi-auto rifles as assault weapons.

Please advise if and when they do the benefit at the Post. In addition to the prayers and well wishes donations will be made.

I just received a call from the event coordinator and was told the benefit auction may have to be relocated due to anticipated turn out. Our Post will only hold 250 people and the auction may draw more than that.

A local bank is setting up a donation account, as is common in these cases. I'll be happy to post the banks contact information if one of the moderators can verify that doing so would not violate forum rules. In theory that could be considered solicitation.

In any case, the Deputies name is Brandon Moore and the incident took place in Morrow County, Ohio last week. There are a handful of stories on the net with the usual varying degrees of accuracy.

Thanks to a suggestion made here I asked the coordinator if a blood drive was needed. She said she was embarrassed to admit she had not thought of that either. However she was on the way to meet with the family at the hospital and would get back with me.

Seriously, if the shooter is wounded and down, clutching a firearm, surrounded by spent cases, bleeding like a stuck pig...can we just give the poor tax payer a break and skip the dang trial?

Hit 4 times, seriously wounded, applied bandage, returned fire, hit the BG 2 times at 50 yards. Now there is an LEO I would have no problems sharing a seat with. This guy has no backup in him. Prayers for a speedy and full recovery. When he is fit to return to duty, his experience can save lives if they will let him share what it was that helped him. Take something positive away from this incident. Oh yeah, I agree with the new hemp, and a wagon with a skittish mule. The truth is that he will have more lawyers than you or I could ever afford. Where do they come from and who is paying them ? Always intrigued me ! Anybody know ?
Bob

Over last summer and early fall, 4 Chicago police officers in uniform were shot and killed in separate incidents. Two incidents were attempt robberies. Not one of these officers was responding to a call. What has our society devolved into when people are willing to kill LEO's?
