Local gun shop burglarized

A local shop/range was burglarized about 4 a.m. Thurs.. The crooks got 33 guns. I don't know how they got in and I'm not gonna stop by to ask. They've got enough trouble without me poking my nose in. I'm really curious how they got in though. I'm gonna say that anyone that knows the area knows that the many trouble Gin Mills around here close at 3 am. By then the police that would be on patrol are busy breaking up fights in bar parking lots. I always though the place was plenty secure against burglary but I guess not. The ATF has started the dog n pony show and I'll wager the store's security will come under heavy scrutiny. The usual "MO" for these gun shop robbers is walk in guns blazing. I've lost 3 friends in 20 yrs to killers robbing their stores.

Awful just awful i hope that the police catch the rats who broke in and that they are sentenced to the death penalty.
 
The usual MO is that a stolen vehicle is driven through a door that does not have steel and concrete posts in front of it. One place here locally they drove right through the cinder block wall! Sometimes they come in through the ceiling too- it's amazing how small a window/space that some of those lanky felons I've seen fit through. :eek:

I drove by the place about 7 am today. The front of the store is intact. The store is in what we'd call today a strip mall. The store itself is part of what is left of a shopping district about a 1/2 mile from where Jean Shepherd grew up. New take on a "Christmas Story"

SUV thru the storefront

There was a similar B&E in a south Indy suburb in the wee hours a couple weeks ago. The storefront was wasted but the perps didn't get much. As I understand, the handguns were safe stored and the long guns were securely cabled in the racks. As reported in the media, the BG's got a couple long guns and little else.
 
Down here in Dallas a group has been hitting places that specialize in gold. Typically, they'll come through the wall of an adjoining store that doesn't have the same security, or they'll come through the roof.

They even chopped through a safe with a power saw. Determined and intelligent crooks, if they have enough time, will get to just about anything despite security measures. Of course, they eventually got caught, but not before they melted down buckets of gold. Little help to the victims.

Man, I always hate to hear about stolen guns...

Some criminals are very, slick. There was a rash of B&E's at clubs a few years ago when I when I was with my previous department. I rememeber one place in particular. 911 put the call out to me, but I was 20+ min away across the county. A city PD unit picked it up, despite the fact it was technically a few miles out of his jurisdiction. He was on scene in 7 min and the BG's had hit 4 video slot machines and unbolted and taken the entire ATM. :eek:

To my knowledge the turds were never caught, at least at the point I left the department. We had our suspicions aobut who they were though... I think the only thing I loath more than a theif is a sexual predator.:mad:

The death penalty? Really? For burglary?

Let's just say that killin's too good fer 'em, and sentence them to five to seven years of non-consensual sex with cellmates not of their choosing.

Really. There's no such thing as a single-offender burglar, unless he's killed in the act. Burglars, car thieves and home invaders need to be fed to the Buzzards. It's really the only way to stop it - prison sure doesn't work.
 
Are you talking about Bradis Gun Shop in Greenwood? They got hit a few days ago. They drove a stolen truck through the front door but only got 3 firearms: a .22 with a 'can', an AR, and some type of MP-5. The handguns were in a safe, and the long guns were chained.

The incident I was describing was Elmore's Firearms in Greenwood. Their incident was reported much as you said.

Are you thinking of Bradis on US 67 in Camby, IN? I have not heard of any trouble there but may have missed it.

You are right it was Elmores. They only got 3 firearms but did $35,000 in damage when they went through the front door with the truck.
The front door crash thing is how they got into the old Dons North, Don's West, and also Pop's. If I had a gun store i would put boulders in front.
 
Maybe the current administration planned it to prove how easy it is for criminals to get guns....
