Local newspaper posts permit Holders name and addresses

Most states have an online searchable datebase of property owners via the State Tax Acessor Office... just saying. :D

If a law abiding Citizen can have their information posted. Why not the Editor of the Paper? It's all public record....

Property Information in Kentucky - Property Valuation Office

I use public use computer at the Property Valuation office in court house. I can search by owners name or by address. Might want to include/contact the editors neighbors. Then can go to County Clerk office to examine deeds.

From Property Valuation you can list:
residence size - square footage
number of bedrooms
number of baths
Price paid and date property bought.
Current Assessment

Includes contact address for the owner, often a P.O. Box.

A drive-by of the house could yield information about the vehicles - make - color - tag number.

After selecting which data to include in your disclosure, consider including a Google Earth link that shows the house.

Of course mention that the owner is against gun ownership ...

This was done here in NC. I believe it was done in Eastern, NC. Funny how the same people who thought it was a great idea to print lawful gun owner's names thought it was a really really bad idea to print their names. I believe an agreement was reached.

Regarding names not being on the list, this does not mean there are no firearms in the house. There are no licenses required to own guns in (most of) the USA. I have only had my carry permit for about 2 years. I have owned guns for 47 years.

Last, I would write to the advertisers of the newspaper.

Printing the names of permit holders in NY is probably the shortest article ever written. Ok so that' s not funny. Have you thought about organizing all those permit holders and protesting in front of the editors home. Since there are no "open carry laws" the editor won't know if you permit holders are or are not!!!!!Think about it. You have First Amendment Rights also and you also have the right to peacefully assemble. I suggest you exercise all your rights or risk losing all of them.

Thanks Mike. Time for me to move to Putnam County!!!!

Chris, here's an interesting comparison of our 2 counties, by ME. I got this info from the article.

in Putnam we have some 99,000 residents, and over 11,000 pistol licensees. In Westchester, there's some 955,000 residents and just some 16,000 licensees. I feel much safer in Putnam. ;):D

You'd both probably like it alot better in York Cty... MAINE... :)

listing of address and map of permit holders

"The Journal News", a newpaper in Rockland County NY has published a map identifying handgun license locations and names of individuals in Rockland and Westchester Counties.
The last time this was done was a number of years ago, and then names and addresses were published for both counties.
Now, there is a map to each persons house location. I urge all those subscribers to contact the president of this newspaper and explain to her your opinion of this matter, discontinue your subscription, and if necessary, if your home is burglarized for firearms, hold them responsible in a lawsuit, for pointing out your house as a target for such a crime. This newspaper is a Gannett publication. The president and publisher of this particular publication as listed under "executives" on page two is Janet Hasson [email protected] [e-mail]

We need to publish a map with THEIR personal residences on it. ;)

Ugh, this reminds me when The Associated Press was trying to get the Illinois FOID card holder list (these are just registered gun owners; not C&C since our state doesn't have it). That was quite an uproar.

The Journal News in Westchester County NY "foiled" the names and addresses of all permit holders and posted them on their website today. They even put an interactive map on the website so people can see if anyone in their neighborhood has a permit. I can't believe it's come to this.

I'm planing to start legal action over this one.

Chris, incoming PM :D

Actually the permit owners need to post the addresses of top news people execs and the in their front yards or on a billboard in the center of town with message on how they are anti-gun and safe to plunder.

It's amazing what can be found on the net if you look. ;) Wheels turning.

New York newspaper publishes names and addresses of gun owners...

If anyone doubts the bias of the press against gun owners, check this out. The Journal News, which serves Westchester and Rockland Counties, just north of New York City, has published the names and addresses of citizens in its coverage area who own handguns. How irresponsible can you get? :(
