Local shop hose me

I replied within seconds if he would hold it until 11am Saturday.

If he would hold it until 11am Saturday.....what would you do?
So somebody comes in earlier than you, sees the gun, and says he'll take it. You really expect that the seller will tell him "Sorry. Someone else has said that he will be in to look at it at 11am".
You haven't said that you promised to buy it. So why do you expect him to anger another customer by refusing to sell it to him. I just don't see your point. Someone else beat you to it. Happens all the time.

Absolutely right, put the greedy, stupid local gun stores out of business, every single one of them. Gun buyers across the country should boycott their local stores and just buy from internet sellers and kitchen table FFLs. That would show those dealers.

:(

You're missing the point. I said I rarely bought from that one. Their egotistical attitude turns me off. Not smart marketing. I've bought from several other local gunshops, as well as ordered from distributors (with an FFL), and bought online. If that one goes out of business it's their fault, not mine. Why turn off your customers when you're not the only game in town?!?

Sorry but I have been in a few store front FFL's that have the attitude that they are doing you a favor by accepting your money for goods or letting you thru the door. Its these types that I will absolute not spend a dime with them. Any shop that treats your fair and decent gets my money. A business that passes an attitude to its customers deserves to be out of business IMHO.

I was one of those evil kitchen table FFL guys for about 15 years. I enjoyed seeing people get a gun they wanted (at cost) and get more people shooting over lining my pockets.

As to the original post in question mistakes happen and if its an honest mistake I would let it go and the store should remember you the next time something rolls in that you are looking for. If someone sold it out from under you just to make a buck then I would feel differently.

I might have got mad if it was a heart or liver and they bypassed me.

This.

Never make the mistake of thinking you are the only loyal customer or that you spend the most money in that shop.

Be happy for the guy who bought the gun and wait your turn.

For the shop owner, one in the hand is worth two in the bush. Unless you eat dinner at his house, you're not as tight as you think.

At the end of the day, it's just a gun. And a common one at that.

I bet your "angry email" will get about as much attention as your "hold it for me email"

I guess you'll feel better.
