Looking at a 66-2

I have a chance to buy a 66-2 4 inch bbl. It has been fired but very little. Faint lines on cyl and little other wear, possible box - no papers. Any idea of pricing? The dealer is asking #600

Hello Rocky.
I paid $600 for my 66-2 snubbie a few months back. Some will say I overpaid but since I wanted the gun more than I wanted the $600 it was worth it to ME. If you plan on keeping it long term I would say it will pay for itself down the road.I love mine and will keep it as long as I live.

Given the increase in value of the older SW revolvers, I do not think that 600 is too much. Could you get it for less? Perhaps, but how much time, effort, extra money in travel or transfer fees would it take? BTW, do a cursory check of Gunbroker and you'll probably see that 600 is about the fleet average.

I got this one, Granted it's a 6", But for 350 OTD monday.

I think you should offer 5 and see what happens.

I think you can do better than 600. Check Gunbroker, there's a few right now for less, as well as a NIB 66-2 4inch for $699.

I recently paid $300 for a pinned and recessed no dash 4", although it did not include original box. I can't imangine the box would have added a considerable increase to the price. I think you should be able to find a -2 for less than 6 bills.

I paid $550 for an excellent no dash 4 inch barrel a couple of months ago. I guess you can get lucky as some have pointed out but at dealers and gun shows around here you won't get a decent S&W 357 magnum for less the $500.

Saw one at the gun show about 6 months ago for $400 and walked away from it. I still have dreams about her and regret my lack of forsight. $600 may be a little high but your grandchildren will thankyou...

When there is something I want, I look, I usualy pass some up, And when I finally give up, One shows up at a very good price.
OR I wasent looking for it and just could not pass it up for the price, Which was the case with the 350/ 6" above.

Last November I paid $600 for a NIB 66 no-dash. At the time I thought that maybe I was paying too much, but it was/is a beautiful gun and exactly what I was looking for. It's become one of my favorites and, now, I don't feel that I paid too much for it.
