I am interested in the Comp model with the match grade barrel, interested to know how accurate this rifle is. I will put a scope on it and use it for plinking and teaching my grandson to shoot.

I would be disappointed if the rifle was just so so in the accuracy department. I am hoping to put bullets in the same hole at 25 yards.

Hope someone has this combination to shed some light on the rifle capabilities.

i think the general consensus on the 15-22 performance center models has been that they were not any more accurate than the MOE models...at least not enough to justify such a large difference in price. there are a few posts on the subject, search for "Performance Center".
that being said though it does come with some nicer options than the standard rifle. i say if you have the coin and that's what you want then go for it. you will love the rifle no matter what 15-22 you pick, they are all great!

Save your money

Greetings,

I have the pistol, the MOE version, and the PC. So far, the MOE, for $200 less shoots as tight if not tighter groups. I've tried a wide variety of ammo through each rifle(pistol more a toy)and the results are consistent. I've used a couple of different scopes on my PC including a Burris 4x16 thats worth almost as much as the gun to no avail. The trigger is a Rock River Arms 2 stage that's clean but heavy. I put a set of lighter weight springs in and while that helped, it didn't really change things that much. My MOE's trigger has been modded and is much better for just a little work and money.
I may have a less than perfect PC and probably am going to send it back to S&W for them to go over.
The main thing to remember is these guns aren't one hole guns at 50 yds.
All this being said, the guns are great fun to shoot and all three have been virtually flawless in function.
Go with the standard version IMHO. You can buy a lot of ammo for the $200 you'll save.
Here's a pic of a 50' target shot with the MOE. It is capable of grouping tight but it opens up at increasing distance as would be expected.

Well I know my standard 15-22 is no one-hole shooter at 25yds. and I an not sure if it is the gun, the optics or a combination of both. Maybe I can get 1inch groups at 25 yards at best but that being said I would buy another 15-22 all over again even knowing this.

I consistantly get 3/4 " and smaller 3 shot groups at 50 yds. when useing Winchester 36gr. high volicity copper plated hollow points, and occasionaly one hole groups. It didn't start out this way, but after working on my technique I Now can consistantly acheive these results. I am convinced these rifles are capable of fine accuracy, but because of the two piece stock techinique is more critical than with a one piece stocked gun like a 10-22.
