Looking at the JM 625 and wondering.

The poly moon clips are RIMZ. made by EZ moonclips and sold on their website and by Brownells as well. If you do a search you should find them. GREAT for the range especially if you are like my buddy who shows up at the range with a couple of shell shuckers and a couple of revolvers and an ammo can full of 45 ammo. Very easy to load and unload the RIMZ clip with no tools required and no damaged moons or cut fingers.

One of the other 625JM threads is mine. I was worried about the ECM also but turns out it was not a problem in mine. My only mould in .45 is the 452374 sized to .452 and lubed with stick alox. Shot great and absolutely no leading. Powder is a new addition at my bench and is True Blue which I worked up to a max load. I think you are missing out if you don't give it a try.

I've taken a slightly different tack. I bought a 625JM about three years ago. It functioned flawlessly, and it was a ball to shoot. My only disappointment with the JM was with the stocks. They were like trying to shoot gripping a 2x4. That was remedied with a set of Ahrend's round-to-square grooved combat stocks. They're much more suited to my hands.

When my LGS showed me a 625-3, Model of 1989, with a 5" barrel, I traded the JM in on the Model of 1989. I really like the slightly forward weight of the 625-3.

Just a slightly different view.

I have had a JM and a PC 4" 625. The JM outshoots the PC with lead bullets and jacketed. The PC is nicer to carry. Both are very accurate. Ammo dimensions are critical, reloads that will feed and shoot in my Kimbers won't in either of the 625s. I use RCBS dies and I had to buy a Hornady seating die to get the rounds to chamber in the wheel guns. Different lots and brands of brass, set this problem up. Tight chambers as long as to spec make the revolvers shoot tighter.

Have you tried a Lee factory crimp die?

I currently own a 625 with a 5"bbl., and it's one of the nicest-shooting revolvers you could own. The only thing, I don't care for about the JM model is the ugly grips, but that's a minor cosmetic concern. You also have the ability to shoot .45 Super ammo through these revolvers. The full-moon clips make excellent speed-loaders. Any number of sources abound for acquiring them. I even have several Wilson sets in stainless.

I actually like the look and feel of the grips better than most although I suspect I would like some Nil Griffes or Ahrends a tad better.

You do know that Wilson moon clips come from Ranch moon clips. Wilson just stamps and overprices them!

I just picked one up from my LGS as I wanted to get a double action that did not require a new caliber, I shoot 1911s and polymer 45s mostly.

Very happy with it after almost 400 rounds thru it, have let others have a go and the overall feedback has been very positive.

Single action shoots better than I do and working on learning how to work with double action.

As others have said, grips not for me but I bought mine used and previous owner tossed in Monogrip which I like.

I have the 625-8 PC with the ECM rifling and it leads with cast bullets. I traded for it but if I had known at the time about the ECM barrel I would have gave it more thought. Nice gun otherwise.
