Here's what I got. A 65-5 3 inch with shrouded ejector rod. I've never seen one that didn't say ladysmith on it but this one is blank on the passenger side.
Any info you may have would help.
Thank you my friends

Very nice. I'm going to guess it either never had the script or was removed...S&W could probably do that as they would bead blast it to look new again. I've never known a non-LS 65 to be shrouded. But never say never and perhaps others will have more info. Excellent regardless!

I've actually got a ladysmith as well, and from my understanding, it is etched into the metal so bead blasting wouldn't work. I could definitely be wrong though

I know that there was another model 65, other than the Lady Smith that had the shrouded ejector rod and mmck may have hit upon it, but I don't remember it being for export.

OTOH, yes the "Lady Smith" text can be removed as I have one that was done by MA gunsmith Mike LaRocca...

So, could be either.

Adios,

Very nice heater you got there

Somebody had the "Ladysmith" lettering removed... not a big deal. I might have removed that myself if I were lucky enough to score one. You have the better design of 3" 65s, the ones with a shrouded ejector - I'd just enjoy having it! Congrats!

Is the lettering on the ladysmith raised ? I thought it was etched into the plate so you can't just "remove" it? Need to dig my ladysmith out but I don't think with this eyesight I would even be able to tell anyway haha

No, it was laser etched and not deeply, so easy to remove.

In theory someone could have replaced the bull barrel on a model 65-5 and replaced it with the half-lug Lady Smith barrel, but the latter has the matte (bead-blasted) finish so they would have had to redo the whole gun to match. So my vote is removed etching.

Damn, I guess I don't know how laser etching works if you can remove it.
Thank you all for the help and info, very much appreciated
