Gracias

Bob, thank you. Got 2 plus the basket weave carrier. This is for my wife's 625 when she travels to her 98 yr. old mom's in Oklahoma. Handguns carried in vehicles must be openly visible and unloaded. I figured with a speed loader she could 'fill er up' in a hurry should the need arise. And I pity the poor slob(s) if she had to do that as she is a crack shot with her 'punkin roller' and not a bit squeamish about using it.

Most likely she doesn't have a carry permit, OK state law simply allows those without a permit to carry in a vehicle provided the provisions described are met. It's one thing about the patchwork of laws from state to state that drove me to get a permit and I have the goood luck to be from Michigan so I'm good to go in 40 states.

Carry

You are correct. Oklahoma allows one to carry a handgun in your vehicle IF it is in open view and unloaded, thus the speed loaders. She does not have a TX carry permit and is highly skeptical of them. She (and I) are concerned that once you are in the database you are in the database. Govt knows way too much about folks as it is without making it easy for them. Not worried about TX; but the Feds in general and Obama, Holder et al in particular.

If you want to worry about a government 'paper trail', I am always reminded of the Cuban & Russian officers, upon landing in a small western town, telling their soldiers to collect all of the Federal #4473 forms from gun selling stores. That would tell them who had the firearms to confiscate. The movie was 'Red Dawn' - from 1984 - and starred Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen. You have a Federal form filled out for every new firearm you've bought for many years now. I have a CCL - as do most folks in 'shall issue' states. Your local sheriff issues them after a national check. A CCL makes you more likely to have a CCW on you when you need it most. Just my thoughts. Of course, a speedloader as a back-up/reload is a good idea, too.

BTW, while an HKS #25-5 is the correct speedloader... both the .45 Auto Rim designed HKS #25 and .44 Russian/Special/Magnum designed HKS #29 speedloader will securely hold and load .45 Colt cartridges, at least they just did with Speer 250gr Gold Dots and homebrew cowboy loads in Starline brass and my .45 Colt 625MG.

I know this is off topic of the original post here, and please correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the 625 first introduced under the -2 designation as the model of 1988? Your post is about a 625-1 Classic so I'm a little confused and would like to be educated please.
