I have a couple of revolvers that I want to have converted. I called Jim Stroh at alpha precisoion but he said he is retiring and not taking any more work. Anyone have any recomendations? I'm in Alabama, so closer is better, but I would be willing to ship them as well.

I'm sure there are quite a few excellent revolversmiths who can do first rate conversions; the only one I know who has a reputation for it is Bowen Classic Arms.

IMHO, 'Cylinder and Slide' in Nebraska is the place for you to go. They know S&Ws as well as S&W does. ............ Big Cholla

I seem to remember there is a guy in Florida that specializes in this sort of work, though I can't come up with his name. Something like Reader I think.

I'd be very interested if you can find his name. I travel back and forth to Florida.

Andy Horvath converted a K-22 to a .32 long for me. Happy with his work, google his name and his phone no. Is somewhere. Doesn't talk much but has done work for a lot of gun writers. Larry

I spoke to Andy Horvath. He has a pretty long wait as do most good ones. As you said, he seems to be a man of few words. There is a good chance I will be using him but I wanted to see what othr options were out there.

I googled Gary Reeder and it seems he is in Arizona, not Florida.

I haven't called Cyl and Slide yet, but they don't mention caliber conversions on their web site. They are in Nebraska.

1. I have a 629 that I want to convert to 45LC. I have a barrel but need the cyl bored.
2. I have a pre 28 that I want to convert to either 10mm or 45acp with moon clips.
3. I have barrel and a cylinder to convert a model 19 to 327 mag.

another vote for Andy Horvath. He has one of my guns now, and another one is going to be on the way to him..

I've heard lots of good things about Bob Cogan of APW Cogan in Alabama.
I may be sending my 4 inch 1926 44 sp down to him for a redo, cosmetically and mechanically(check out function). It's been renickeled once, so no collector value.

Green frog had something in stainless converted to 327 (project 616). He had a 22 bbl and cyl and Andy fitted them to the gun. Only trouble is Clearwater re boring is a year behind to do the bbl. Andy does the cyl himself to .32. My .32 long very accurate. Good luck, Larry

He does not have a web site his contact # 440-458-4369

Andy's work is right up there with Bowen and a handful of other very talented smiths. Best of all he performs all of the work himself no helpers or learner gunsmiths. So its a genuine Horvath custom unfortunately he is not passing his skill onto someone else.
