I just bought a nice Model 49 Bodyguard with a nickel finish. It was manufactured in 1986, Serial No. ALW89XX.

I noticed that the thumb latch screw was a little loose when I bought the gun. After cleaning, I tightened the screw all the way down.

Yesterday I took the gun to the range and put 100 rounds of .38 158gr RN through it.

When I cleaned it last night, I noticed that the thumb latch screw was loose again.
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>Would it be safe to put some blue Loctite on the threads to keep the screw from backing out?
Should the screw be tightened all the way down?[/list]

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the camp of the folks that opt for a little blue Locktite. I had one loosen up on a stainless gun that left a small scratch on the frame from the thumbpiece dragging. Luckily, it buffed out. That would have really peed me off if it was a nicely blue gun. Once it is tight, make a note on the orientation of the screw slot to make sure that it is not backing out again.
