I went to the range today and after putting about 25 rounds through my model 69 the front sight blade flew off. We search for it but could not find it. Where can I get another one?IMG_2035.JPGIMG_2036.JPG

They might offer to send you one if you're willing to drill it yourself. They sent me a replacement XS sight for my 642UC.

There is a place I use as a FFL when I buy guns from gunbroker. They do things like that. I will pay them to install it.

It will be interesting to see if S&W will send a front sight. I bought a new Smith that has a trigger with the chrome flash chipping. They won't send a trigger. They want me to send the gun to them. They suggested I look at aftermarket sources if I didn't want to ship my gun to them.

It’s interesting how the pin stubs appear to remain, as if sheared off cleanly.
That is what the gunsmith said today. I took it by to see how much it will be to install it. They told me $20.

Sound like the perfect opportunity to upgrade the front sight. I would suggest a Patridge sight either brass or gold bead.
I might look into that if S&W doesnt get back to me. I sent them a email on Sunday. Got a confirmation they recieved my email on Monday. Have not heard anything since.

I got this email this morning from Smith&Wesson. They are sending me a replacement sight and pin.

I remember Colt started using roll pins to hold the rear sight on their Gold Cup 1911's. Users frequently had those roll pins depart from the slide along with the rear sight. The solution was a solid pin.
