Lost my Irish Setter today

I have had between 2-4 dogs all of my 51 years. Right now I have 3, and one is 13. It's grief when they go, but try to focus on the happy times you shared and the great life you provided. Be well.

Sorry for your loss, yes, I know, 'it sucks'.

That was a good long run for a Setter. you should have lot's of good memories.

Saw this on FB, seems appropriate.

He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

for me, part of being worthy is knowing when it's time to say good-bye, I'll see you at the bridge.

Hard as it is/was, you did what was best for Reagan.

They make us better people. Sorry for your loss. Another four legged friend is waiting for you to find him or her.

Sorry for your loss. It is a tough time to take that last trip to the vet's. In weeks, months or years a furry critter will find you, and it starts over. Remember the good times, and know you did the right thing.

Sad to read your posting, and sorry for your loss. You have done the right thing, but I know that me saying that doesn't make it any better for you. Remember all the good times you were able to share. I'm confident that 13 years plus is full of good memories.

May the Shamrocks fall softly for your Reagan.

I've never experienced any loss that hurts worse that the loss of a much loved Best Friend. One of mine has been gone for fifteen years, and there still isn't a day passes that I don't think of him and wish he was still here with me, not one single day.

Please accept my sincerest condolences.

I hate reading these strings, but I am glad to see that so many of us appreciate our pals and our final duty to them. RIP, puppy.

Very nice looking dog. Losing a friend is always hard, I'm sorry.

Sorry for your loss of such a fine and great-looking pal. The last Dog I had had to be put down about thrity years ago.I miss going on those extremely long walks with himas well as playing around. Rest in Peace Reagan. Great name BTW.

I've seen bumper stickers that say things like 'The more people I meet, the more I like my dog'. Sometimes folks don't know how true that can be. In a little over six decades, I've had to say 'Goodbye' to a lot of them. It's never easy, but it does help to remember that he had a happy home. If the time comes to have another fuzzy buddy, it won't detract from Reagan's memory. Acebow

Sad to hear of this sir. I had an Irish Setter many years ago too. I had to give Harley up to a friend on a farm with kids when I got divorced and had no place for him anymore. He later died of a suspected heart attack during a thunder storm as he was afraid of them. One of my best dogs ever.
Lost my Brittany three years ago too and haven't had the heart yet to replace him but maybe soon will do so. They're a part of the family and seeing them go is the hardest thing to do but we must for their sake.

It's never easy when we loose a crew member.

The paint that's left in our hearts are not meant to make us sad, rather it's a piece of us that was giving to them so they will not make the trip alone, and they have us with them for the jorney.

Sorry for your loss.

Henry

Our Irish Setter Annie just turned 12 this past March. She's having some trouble getting up and down the stairs and I dread the day.

So sorry for your loss! :(
