Lots of activity at the crabapple tree

[Faulkner]

The rain has moved out of the Arkansas Ozarks and we had a typical fall afternoon after the sun poked through the clouds. I noticed a lot of bird activity around the crabapple tree and decided to lean up against a nearby oak tree and snap a few pictures.

This eastern bluebird flew out of the crabapple and is sitting in a nearby crape myrtle.

I saw several different species of woodpeckers peck around on the crabapples.

Since the hummingbirds migrated south a few weeks ago we've been paying more attention to the bluebirds, which it seems we have quite a number hanging around the Faulkner homestead.

Bummer . . . I just missed having this one focused in time. Would have been a great picture if I had.

Here it is..still O Dark Thirty in the morning...Looking at those photos is a great way to start the day, with a smile on one's face.

Is this, or does it look like crab apples????? I thought it was, but we are well into the fall and I was thinking maybe arsenic berries or such because not a single one of whatever they are has been touched by any wildlife!!!

These were taken using a Nikon D5300 DSLR and a Nikon 70-300mm lens, but I have a Tamron 150-600mm lens that I also use for nature pictures.

I just ordered the Nikon 200-500mm VR lens. It is backordered, but the reviews have been outstanding. At it's price point it is a tremendous deal.
