This morning Bass Pro had more ammo on their shelves than I've seen in any store in almost a year. They had a number of brands and a variety of calibers. I was the only one in the ammo aisle a half hour after the store opened. A manager said he believes the situation is beginning to improve now. He said ammo looks to be coming in much more regularly and in greater amounts. He also said the individuals who have been regularly waiting in line prior to the store opening, and buying no matter the price, have pretty much stopped buying ammo. Maybe he's correct.

Today I visited Cabela, Sportsman's Warehouse and a Walmart.
Saw Very little ammo. Some Shotgun shells and some centerfire rifle.
No 22LR , no 9mm, no 38 Special, etc.

Indeed, the first step to ending the ammo "shortage" is probably going to be having the supply exceed the amount that hoarders and scalpers can afford to sit on. Part of this dynamic is going to be having the key suite of popular calibers be available. Having a lot of boxes of calibers that are less popular may start to calm things down, but until there are large numbers of 9mm, 357 Mag, 40 S&W, 10mm and 45 ACP, as well as 223/5.56, 308, and 30-06 on the shelf, people will still feel the pressure to buy and prices will stay high. JMHO, YMMV.

Locally I'm seeing more 9mm, .223, 5.56, 7.62, .308, 12 and 20 gauge, .22LR, some .38spl and .38 spl +P and .45 ACP with the occasional oddball box of HPs in various calibers. I've also purchased some .45 Colt, Federal Hammer Down lever action .357 that runs fine in my 686, .410 gauge for the Governor and some 6.5 Creedmoor.

It's me AGAIN....... with the same message....

DON'T BUY.....DON'T BUY..... DON'T BUY

Aren't you tired of always being the tail of the dog? With discipline, you can be THE DOG.... DON'T BUY.... QUIT SHOOTING IF YOU HAVE TO, BUT:

DON'T BUY

As always, IMHO

I'm outside of my usual haunts (beach trip!) and went into an Academy here in Galveston. Lots of shot shells in the gun department. It looked like a lot of ammo behind the Customer Service counter but for the most part the less than popular stuff. I was there about noon and the 9mm was all gone of course. I did see some 7.62 x 39 but outside of that it was stuff like .350 Legend.

The guy in the gun department said it was getting better. They were getting more and it was still going fast but the lines in the morning were disappearing. He said they had raised their limit to four boxes from I don't know what.

On the flip side Galveston is nuts. Weekend level crowds on a Wednesday. Every restaurant is hiring and the Landry's we went into was operating at about 25% due to staffing shortages. There was over an hour wait at 5:00 PM on a Wednesday!

About 2 months ago, Sportsman Warehouse Handgun shelf looked like this.
I haven't seen it like this but this one time in almost 2 years.
Two Box limit, I bought 9mm.
My rule is, when I see Ammo that I shoot at the regular price, I buy!
The 9mm was I think $17 a box.

I was just on the Federal website and this is the first time in quite a while they have had 9mm in stock. American Eagle and Champion 115 and 124 grain for $29 limit 4. Certainly not "normal" prices like we are used to but I see an up trend in availability and a slow down trend in prices compared to 6 months ago when it was a buck a round....if you could find it.
22LR also coming back, I've been able to get bricks of CCI-SV and Blazer for .08/round and Stinger and Velocitor at .20/round for boxes of 50.

Showing up

Ammo and Reloading Components appear to be making a
come back.

Made a quick trip through our popular all sports store.
I had no expectations of seeing any.

Couldn't believe it, they had ammo and Hornady Sierra Berger
Berry's reloading bullets.

Couple odd observations; about 15 bags of 44Mag Brass,
and Die Sets, one being about 15 Sets of the 6.5 Manbun, weird.
Oh yea, Reloading Equipment too.

I asked about Powder, they had Hodgdon and IMR last week.
I didn't ask about Primers. Don't care about those anymore.
