LOUDEST HAND GUN

My Ruger SBH with Rem UMC 180 gr. SJSP (1600 + fps). Muzzle blast so bad I can use it for a leaf blower at our log pile range. I wear earplugs and muffs when I shoot it. It does make everything else I have a lot more pleasant to shoot.

Come to think of it, the BSA in .30-06 with a BESA muzzle brake is LOUD!

I don't think BSA makes rifles any longer. But UK gun laws are probably more to blame than the muzzle brake slots.

My vote, hands down, goes to the Ruger Black Hawk in .30 carbine:eek: Mind blowing noise !!:D:D

Interesting. I had a Blackhawk in 30 carbine. Don't recall it's report being all that severe, but it has been a while.
These days, first place is a tie between two shooting buddies of mine. One has a 454 Casull, the other a 50cal Desert Eagle. Both shake the dust out of the ceiling tiles as well as loosen the shooter's fillings.

I agree the Ruger Blackhawk in 30 M1 Carbine might be the worst, but a close second would be a .32/20 rifle load fired in a 4" M&P. Did that one time - it made my ears ring for a week!

  1. My 4" Smith 29-2 - With Winchester White Box 240gr. Magnums, it's breathtakingly loud.
  2. .45acp Hi Point with a muzzle brake - my .44 Magnum is just a HAIR louder

I have an AMT Automag in 30 cal carbine that's really loud. The only thing that comes close in my S&W in 22 Remington Jet. Firing either will shut the range down as everyone else turns to stare.

In a handgun I go the Ruger 30 carbine. Earsplitting!

I once tried punching holes in a 55 gallon drum with a 357 and got a little to far in the barrel very memorable and extremely painful.

I once got to pull the tigers tail on a 155 self propelled two times. So loud it is beyond description but it did not hurt. It did seem to suck all the air out of you. WOW

so far for me it has been a 357 magnum. fired at an indoor range, a few full power rounds can make your teeth hurt, don't even want to think about anything more powerful. Had a Glock 32C that sure was a bit loud as well.

My Son had a Smith and Wesson 500 that was pretty loud.

Thompson Center Contender in. 45-70 with a 14" compensated barrel. You couldn't place anything on the shooting bench! It was a "blast" to shoot

SPEAK INTO MY GOOD EAR.

Any handgun loaded with 2400 powder &/or fired from inside a car. My old Ruger 3" hybraported SP101 357 mag was my, make people at the range move away gun. I no longer SHOOT WITHOUT EAR PROTECTION if I can help it. Damage has already been done, but not as bad as others, & I don't want it to get worse.

I agree with the others who have proclaimed the Ruger .30 carbine Blackhawk the loudest and most "ear splitting" to shoot. They are very accurate but, I have owned and sold two of them simply because they lost their charm as a result of the decibel level!

Desert Eagle .50 AE. The percussion blew the over heads lights out at the indoor range I was at.

I know I ain't...

I know I ain't gonna get one of them Ruger Blackhawks in .30 carbine. I had heard that was a loud cartridge but never heard one.

Somebody must have been shooting a 10mm when I was at the range last. Louder than everything else in there.

I guess the worst I've done is my 686 full blast.

There's a difference for me between loud and sharp. I don't seem to mind my 460 or 629 ( they're both loud ), but not very sharp. I have a little Walther P22 that has such a sharp report that it is painful to anyone nearby without ear protection.

Loudest I've fired is my 5" .460 V, the shorter barrel is louder than my buddy's 8 3/8" XVR.

We shoot the same 300gr. handloads in both revolvers, (as my buddy do reload and I don't, yet...).
Both have the compensator holes blocked off with a ss sleeve.

I also enjoy the shockwave when firing it, it's a rush. :-)

Gotta be the 357mag. Fired it once without hearing protection. It felt like someone cracked a whip by my ear.OUCH!

I agree with the OP! The Automag in .30 Carbine is almost as loud, as is a NAA in .22 Mag.

.30 Carbine and .22 Mag are rifle rounds, plain and simple.

Speaking of rifle rounds, depending on your definition of a "handgun", an unsuppressed short-barrel AK/AR in 5.56 or 7.62 mm would be very loud.

The loudest handgun I ever fired was a Taurus Raging Bull in .454 Casull. There was a tremendous muzzle blast and the shock wave disturbed people 8 shooting lanes away.
