LOUDEST HANDGUN

My .500mag makes a good boom. I looked for a chart showing Db ratings but didn't find one with the .500 or your .30 carbine listed.

That was without a doubt my Thompson Center Contender with the .35 Remington barrel. That was I think the most unpleasant handgun I owned.

+1 on the Contender. Ol' boy had a 30/06 at an indoor range!

Do we count those? Rifle calibers & all.

.500 S&W would have to be the noise king of handgun calibers.

The data I could find shows noise going up as caliber increases.
This list only goes to 44 mag so I expect that the 500 is louder.
And the hand held rifles are probably louder than the handgun rounds.
How loud is your gun

What is the LOUDEST hand gun you've ever heard ??:p My vote goes to the Ruger Blackhawk in .30 carbine caliber. Insanely LOUD:D

I have a Ruger Blackhawk in .30 carbine caliber and it is one of the loudest handguns that I own. My Kel-Tec PLR-16 ..223 pistol might be louder. It is a close call. The Kel-Tec has a Muzzle Break that pushes that sound back at you.

My Dads old Ruger Flat top.44 was loud esp with some of the loads he had but my Security Six with 125s has one heck of a ear piercing cracking sound.

I think there's a difference between the "tonal quality" of various rounds and platforms and factor in the powder and barrel length plus the action of the gun and you have a lot of sound variances.

Can you hear me now?
