Love My 9c

When I bought my 9c they had a FS sitting next to it. I held them both and preferred the feel of the compact. I thought the 9c felt more balanced in my hand. I would have thought the FS would fit better as I have larger hands.
A month later I bought a 9mm Shield and had to add the Talon grips to it to feel comfortable. :)

I kinda have a similar problem. I have a new full size M&P 9 which shoots GREAT. Considering either a M&P 9c or Shield to replace a Kel-Tec P3AT mouse gun which is a pain to shoot...I have very large hands and wear XL or XXL everything (6'3" 225#). A 9c is available; I would have to wait for a Shield. The "concern" is concealability. The mouse gun is concealable, but is just marginally acceptable as a defense gun. Comments/insights are appreciated. Best Regards, Ed

OldGoat I'm a small guy and I CC my 9c and 40c with no problem I really like my 9c I got a 40 Shield once I get used to it the 9c might get benched

I carry my 9C quite often, if I'm only going out for a few hours. It's fine for that. However, my Shield 9 is much nicer to carry all day long. Sometimes, I catch myself reaching down to make sure it's there!

I awaiting my carry permit but I plan to carry my 9c the majority of the time. I also have a bg 380 that I plan to pocket carry in extreme concealment situations.

I shot much better with the 9c, but I shoot the bg accurate enough and its powerful enough to where I feel I'd be able to defend myself. I thought about the shield but none of my LGSs had any in stock and one had just gotten 2 bgs in. After comparing the technical specs of the shield and the bg, I decided to go with the bg because it was substantially more concealable. I'd have chosen the shield if I didn't have the 9c though.

Dude,at 6'3" and 225# you should be able to conceal any handgun you want... unless you live in a nudest colony. I'm 5'7" and 155# and I can conceal a FS M&P.40.

It's not so much the relationship between the size of the gun and the person, but rather the gun and the way the person dresses. If pants and shirt is a little too tight... because you put on weight... if your shirt doesn't drape as low... because you put on weight... loose clothing hides guns...

Good comments. Thanks. Just looking for experienced recommendations between a Shield or M&P 9c to replace the mouse gun which is so small it is difficult to shoot. Yes, you would think I could find a way to hang a nice S&W on my person. The 9c seems the best bet so far...but I continue to welcome comments. Best Regards, Ed

If you choose the 9c over the Shield make sure the 9 c is equipped with the new Shield like trigger.

I carry my 9c in the cooler months when I can wear an overshirt and my Shield 9mm in the warmer months IWB.

I like the 9c for it's mag capacity but the Shield is more comfortable to carry.

The 9c is my favorite also. Great range gun with accuracy to match a full size pistol and comfortable CCW with acceptable capacity. Carry easy with a Foxx or Remora IWB, with comfort and minimal print. I thought about the 9mm Shield, but it was not as comfortable in hand, reduced capacity, and not right HD / CCW for me. If I had any secomd thoughts, it would be toward purchasing a 40c, to gain the advantage of barrel swap to have 40, 357 & 9 option.

Nothing personal, but calling it a "Shield like trigger" is almost comical. It is an improved trigger with a pronounced reset. But it is not at all Shield like in my experience. I really like the 9c. But the trigger is like a really heavy Glock trigger. The Shield feels more like a SA trigger.

I use a 9c for my everyday carry. I also use a Blade Tech OWB holster (the only thing I have room for IWB is me:eek:). I've gone through a number of holsters until I settled on the Blade Tech (just make sure you get the one for the 9c, I originally picked up one for a full size and it did work fine, just had an extra inch of barrel room). With a loose short sleeved shirt, concealment is a non issue. I don't have to deal with really hot weather here so that may be an issue in other parts of the country.
