Having recently gotten a CCL for my home state I have been in heaven lately. I have carried in other states for some time but being able to carry here at home is just indescribable.

I know a lot of people won't understand but being a lifetime gun owner and basically resigning to the fact that I would have to move out of state to be able to carry every day this is simply unbelievable.

Sorry to interrupt with nothing important to say!

Of course that's something important!

Enjoy the hell out of it. The right has been deprived for so long, what gun owner living there wouldn't be thrilled?!

Don't forget to disarm before you take a shower.

Sometimes the good guys win one and the oppressors take one on the chops. Unfortunately our mutual enemies are determined if nothing else. What we see developing in DC could be trouble for all of us, so keep your fingers crossed. In the meantime, congratulations on your "new freedom" that you have always had - but which has been denied you by tyrants.

No one can deny your rights or take away your freedom, unless you acquiesce.

I am a lifelong Illinoisan who recently moved to Texas.

Whenever I ventured into Chicago from my suburban home, I carried. I worked for many years in some of the worst areas. I believed I owed it to my family to come home safely at night.

After the court ruled the Illinois ban on carrying unconstitutional, I carried everywhere. I figured, the only law under which I could be prosecuted had already been declared unconstitutional.

However, I would not get a permit in Illinois or in Texas. I refuse to ask for a permission slip to exercise a God given right underwritten by the second amendment.

Shalom

I carried illegally in Illinois for years. It kept me from getting mugged in Schaumburg one day. Feels good now to be able to carry with a permit backing it up. They, the state political machine, would shut this all down in a millisecond if they could though! So much for being free...it never comes easy and can disappear in the blink of an eye.

I think it's great. Glad to hear your rights restored and I think it's important with no apologies necessary.
Being in Oklahoma, I sometimes may take for granted the gun rights we have here, especially when compared to some other locations.

Glad to see some common sense returning to the judicial branch of our government, just last Saturday (26 July) it became legal for open and concealed carry in Washington D.C.

Carrying arms is legal now in all states however more needs to be done to make carrying the same as driving a car (which is a privilege and not a constitutional right)!

It's great to see Illinois returning to a decent state. We are still ride with corruption and Chicago still runs our state but we are making progress.

For example we have NO AWB like many liberal controlled states. We have no mag restrictions. We can get SBRs now. We also have shall issue concealed carry. While we have a long way to go we have come a long way also.

Did some more shopping today with my sig 1911 on my side. It feels great.

The exercise of liberty is vitally important. Congratulations.

Happy for you. I was delighted when Kentucky became a shall-issue state some years ago. We had had legal open carry for a great many years. Now we're shall-issue, castle-doctrine, and stand-your-ground, and I'm very pleased.

I'm delighted for you - I was VERY delighted when the light dawned for your state.

Side note:

No one can deny your rights or take away your freedom, unless you acquiesce.

That is somewhat incorrect - all of our rights have certain limitations. If you think they do not you are sadly mistaken.

However, I would not get a permit in Illinois or in Texas. I refuse to ask for a permission slip to exercise a God given right underwritten by the second amendment.

That is your choice. The law of the land, however, is very clear in stating that your God given rights, whether the ones detailed in the First Amendment, Second Amendment, or elsewhere, are not unfettered. Therefore, with respect to carrying a concealed handgun in Texas, your refusal to obtain a state issued permit to carry concealed simply gives the law enforcement community an opportunity to arrest you for violating the Texas Penal Code should you happen to be caught with a concealed handgun. The risk is entirely yours. You can be the test case to go to the Supreme Court demanding that "shall not be infringed" means totally unfettered. I hope you can afford the legal bills. Naturally, I hope you win, but at what personal cost?

Secondarily, and I don't intend any meanness, but why don't you celebrate this victory in Illinois by exercising your God given right to bear arms, guaranteed by the Second Amendment, by carrying your handgun openly? Try that in Chicago, or maybe Itasca, how about Houston, or Austin?

Good luck with that.

Congrats Illinois!

Congratulations and glad to hear it. Sad if Illinois won't reciprocate with other states as I always hated to have to disarm there while traveling through to go out west hunting.
I never thought Michigan would become a shall issue state either and even sold a Colt Detective Special years ago because of that. When it passed though I was in line the second week to get my permit and have maintained it since.

I share your joy ~ yeah, it's great ..... FINALLY.

I live in IL near the intersection of MO and IA so with my IL, FL and UT permits ...... I'm pretty well covered to go about anywhere in this region.

And in full disclosure, I was one of those who swore CCW would NEVER happen in Illinois! Guess I just didn't have the faith.

I'm happy to see that those that "think" they are in charge are now within the true law of the land...
