A little information on myself, I am 73 years of age and retired. I did 8 years in the USAF, then 17 years as a Law enforcement officer, in Ks, Ohio, and Fla. Got out of the LEO field and worked the next 12 years as an aide to the severe behavior unit in our local high school. I came to this forum to ask a question I have a 4506 S&W but has been struck by the factory as a model 645, I am looking for any and all information I can get so I thank you ahead of time for any information, I know there were about 100 that was mis-stamped.

And a ....

And a Hound Dawg Howdy to you from SC!:)

Are you sure it isn't a 2nd Gen .45, single stack full size, 5" barrel, 8+1 capacity DA/SA with all stainless construction.

They would be numbered 645.

A 4506 Third Gen would be .45, single stack, full size, DA/SA Steel frame with a stainless finish.

If it's a 4506 it could be on the misstamped ones you refered to.

That's all of the little bit I know. I know I'd really like another 3rd Gen.

Thank you all for your welcomes, LOL, I'm from Ohio I think I forgot to add that to my intro. The Smith 4506 stamped 645 is a 44506 due to the dovetail front sight, whereas the 645 does not have the moveable front sight. I know it's a miss-stamped 4506, looking for more information it's in about 95% good condition. I would like to hear any ideas on its value as a miss-stamp. Thanks for any and all help.
