Ran across a Swiss pattern Interarms in .30 Luger from the early 1970's. It's a 6" with mag and looks unfired. Don't know if it has the box or accessories. Would rather have the 9x19 but I've always wanted a Luger and this is a Luger so just wondering what a good price would be?

Decided to go for it. $700 OTD, pistol and one mag. Finish is immaculate. I can't see any evidence from the gun that it's been fired. Even the mad shows no signs of having been loaded and or had cartridges thru it.

Sorry for the crappy photos. It really does look immaculate.

You got a good deal. I always wanted 30 Luger with adj sights.
& 6" barrel. I think it would be a more useful field gun than a
9mm. I have had a lot of 4" Lugers in 9mm and 30, have never
owned a 6" let alone one with adj sights. I have shoot a lot of
them and they all were accurate. The Artillery models with adj
sights shoot like a rifle. They had some target versions the same
era as your gun but I never got my hands on one. I don't know
if they were offered in 30. I don't have a 30 Luger any more but
I have several boxes of Win 30 Luger left over for the next one
that comes down the road.

Hello Richard. DO NOT dry fire your new Luger unless you have a proper snap cap! When you look at the firing pin, you will notice it is about the same size and shape as a wood pencil with a sharpened point. Without a cartridge in place, the firing pin will bottom out in the firing pin hole. Over time the tip of the firing pin will break to say nothing about the pounding the firing pin hole is receiving. To uncock a Luger, raise the toggles slightly, pull the trigger and ease the toggles down.

Congratulations! You have a great gun there!

My only Luger is also a .30 caliber, a plain Jane 1920 Commercial. The ammo is still available and it is a load of fun to shoot.

Very nice gun, congrats, and seems cheap. But what is a Swiss pattern Luger ?

I see on the first pic it’s a Modern era Mauser. I understand those are well made and accurate.

A similar one (shorter barrel, 9 mm) for sale here in Switzerland NIB for $ 1800

I have a Swiss made Luger, Waffenfabrik Bern 06/24 in 7.65 mm Parabellum (i.e. .30 Luger), it’s a great caliber, extremely accurate with a very flat trajectory.

I've always heard the Lugers with the straight grip referred to as "Swiss" pattern or style. Also the caliber and grip safety are in line with Swiss models.

Ordered three Mec-Gar mags yesterday. Looking around the web it looks like Fiocchi 93gr FMJ or SP is about it for ammo.

Any ammo recommendations? The Fiocchi 93gr seems to be the one in stock at the few places that have .30 Luger. Also the soft point Fiocchi sells a little cheaper than the FMJ. I'm sure it can be an individual thing with each pistol but have you tried any SP ammo?

That modern Mauser repro copies the Swiss 1929 model. I think Mauser bought the machinery and made their guns on it, presumably in Germany.

The straight front of the handle is a dead giveaway as to that model.

Classic12, thanks for your pictures. I'd never seen the Swiss holster for that model. I look for your posts, usually among the best on this board! And your English is superb, better than that of some Americans here. :)

If Mario (Kurusu) is here today, maybe he can post photos of the Portuguese holsters for their 7.65 Lugers with 4.75 inch barrels. I think Portugal adopted the standard P-08 in 9mm in 1943. But their holster is different from the German ones. Later, they also had P-38's, from what I've read. Don't know the current Portuguese sidearm.
