I could use some advice. I recently had the good fortune to acquire an M-457. This is my first spurless hammer sidearm. Does anyone know if a hammer with a spur can be installed. Is there any downside to this sort of alteration? An extra OEM 7 shot clip would be a plus.
Thanks for your help

I read recently that S&W did make a spurred hammer for this pistol.

I got my first used M457 a few years ago. It came with only one magazine. I did an internet search and found one right away, but it wasn't cheap; $35 +, if memory serves.

I really like the M457 for CCW. I have two of them. I don't know why the M457 is not more popular.

I was told that you can replace the standard 457 hammer w/ a 4516 hammer. The 4516 hammer doesn't have a spur, but it is serrated, which means you still have to pull the trigger enough to expose the top, then cock it manually.
