M-57 Nickle vs Blue

Is say a 4" Nickle M-57 more scarce/valuable than a Blue one assuming both are in the same condition? Can't seem to find information in references which I have.

Factory nickle finish MIGHT be worth a premium , IF someone really wants a nickle finish gun. I prefer blue myself. If I had a choice between a blue of nickle Model 57 , all other things being equal , I'd take the blued one first.
 
I have bee told many times by respected serious collectors that the Nickel guns accounted for approximately 10 to 15% of the production. That being the case the Nickel should bring a premium based on scarcity alone. Besides, a Nickel N frame is a thing of beauty. Kyle
 
The proper answer to your question is that you need one in blue, nickel, and stainless.

I'll take blue, thanks. Nickle just doesn't look good to me...looks cheap or something. But that is my opinion and worth exactly what you paid for it.

As to your question, I've seen the 57's in nickel and blue go for similar money, and that all depended on the condition of the firearm and any extras (box, etc.).
 
Three out of four of my brand new s&w n frame revolvers are in the world famous s&w nickel finish. I like the stainless and blue finishes too but I prefer the nickel finish first or when I have a choice of getting it. I also think if the nickel finish ever gets discontinued the prices will tripple on the used one's. I wouldn't part with any anyway.

I need to save my $$ for three more New s&w n frames in nickel. Then I reached my first level of wants.

Plus my motto is blue vs nickel? Why not get both?? And throw in the stainless too.

I vote nickel finish. To me, nothing is more attractive than a nickel finished N frame. Don't get me wrong, I have blued guns as well, but nickel is my preference.
 
I had a nickel 6" model 57 and it was a beautiful revolver. Ultimately I ended up trading it as I prefer blue & stainless.

I agree with the others, though, that nickel is less common.
 
My vote is for blue also, as others have stated. I just prefer blue or stainless, even though a nice nickle finish is very beautiful.
 
In my younger days I preferred stainless, usually polished up. Disliked blue and hated nickel. Now that I'm accumulating more than shooting and carrying, I love nickel... no need to put in all that elbow grease to achieve a mirror finish!
 
Just polish the nickel finish. When my stainless finishes go dull I polish them with lots of elbow grease with the Simi Chrome polish to get it back to New looking again.
 
Blue all the way for me but I have two 657's. I personally don't like nickle. I wish I did; seen lot's of good deals over the years for nickle guns.

Like MKK said, you have to find someone that actually wants a premium nickle gun.
 
When I started collecting N frames, my wife liked the nickel finish so I could always buy the mate to a blue one. I only got in a jam when I found the nickel one first.
