M & M's: Plain or Peanut?

Melts in your mouth ... not in your hands. Remembering that old ad makes me wonder if the USS Indianapolis story posted above was made up by Mars' marketing department.

The peanut butter version with no chocolate in them were great! I'd forgotten about them. I like chocolate but it is served so often that it ceases to be a treat.

I voted peanut. I'm a sucker for nuts. Peanut butter Snickers are an improvement over traditional Snickers and like most candy they are best frozen.

But, they will melt in your hand.. the last coating is clear and it will melt in your hand, but not the color.

When M&Ms first come off the line they are bitter.. they have to be aged for a few weeks.

The "printing press" that puts the "M" on the candy is like a regular printing press.. but it runs at a much faster speed, it prints thousands a minute!

If you work in maintenance you're all over the plant.. a favorite stop is the peanut and almond roasters to get a hand full... my..my..my!!

You would think the chocolate plant would be a great place to work in.. wrong. The smell is overbearing!

Peanut.

I've seen the almond versions, but I haven't tried them.

Been wanting to try the caramel ones, but gotta cut back on sugar , so I haven't gone looking for them.

Not a fan of dark chocolate, in general. Haven't seen those M&Ms.

Never frozen chocolates, but I would stick peanut butter cups or Lindt white chocolate in the fridge for at least a few hours before eating them.

I had boy girl twins more than a few years back. We handed out M & M’s instead of cigars.

Plain and peanut.

For eating, I vote peanut.

Hard to make a choice but finally picked "plain". Also a KISS kind of guy. I personally prefer the "Crispy" style of M&M's when I can find them. Came up with a "travel mix" since I don't care for "trail mix". 1 part Crispy M&M's, 1 part cashews or other nut/s of choice and 3 parts goldfish. Filling, Sweet, salty and crunchy.

I like both, including some of the newcomers, especially the mint and caramel, but of the above two I have a slight preference for the plain M&Ms.

No, never heard that rumor, nor do I follow trivia about rock bands. The only reason I know who Adam Levine of Maroon Five married is because it's VS Angel Behati Prinsloo. I'm a VS groupie, ha!

I associate green with Robin Hood or German hunting attire and forests, inc. jungles. Oh: I have seen girls in their 20's dressed for Halloween as Tinker Bell. That had your "green effect" on me...

I thought that rock stars used their guitars as macho symbols. Didn't realize they'd need M&M's to allude to their prowess.

I do not know about rock bands either - heard the rumor over 30 years ago when office had a large bowl of them , I saw one secretary picking out + not eating the green ones + i questioned her why -

Eddie had this buried in the back pages of the Van Halen backstage rider as a tripwire to see if the concert promoters would actually read said rider:

"M&M's ( WARNING!) absolutely no brown ones!"

He didn't reveal the reason until years later after much speculation and it becoming one of his most oft asked questions.

The rider became a star of its own.
