Hey everybody, I'm kind of new to rifles and I just bought my first rifle which is the S&W m&p 10 rifle (.308). I just got my MOE rifle length handguard. I put in my low pro gas block first with the gas valve than the handguard with the cap afterwards to hold it in but the cap still pops off and won't keep the handguard together. Was wondering what I could use to hold it together tight so I'm able to shoot it consistently. Could I use an ar15 front sight thats slides into the barrel? What am I able to use to keep it together and stable?

Thanks

The MOE rifle length handguard will NOT work on the M&P-10. You need the mid-length handguards. If you look at the barrel of the standard M&P-10, you'll see it's a smaller diameter than the gas block step and the step for the muzzle device. You would need a two piece block cut to fit the diameter of the barrel at that point, designed to be a handguard cap substitute to make the rifle length MOE handguards work. Or, you would need a Service Rifle type free float tube & smaller gas block

Not trying to bust any chops here, but the amount of threads lately from people with little to no experience modifying weapons is amazing. I have been shooting since I was 10 or so, and I am VERY familiar with the AR platform, and I wouldn't modify anything until I understood exactly what I was doing. To the OP be careful, and get some help before you injure yourself of someone standing next to you.
