New M&P 10 Sport owner and I'm excited about putting this firearm into service. I bought this for home defense (distances greater than shotgun range to short-medium rifle range) and I am interested in suggestions for optics and a bipod.
Optics - My eyes aren't what thy used to be and, unless its VERY short range, open sights are not an option. I have been considering scopes but most seem to be well in excess of what I need magnification wise. I'm not going to be using this as a sniper rifle and cant think of a scenario where long distance shots would be necessary. Online suggestions seem to be to look at a 1x4 or 1x6 type scope for the distances I'm needing to cover. I'm wondering if this is a task that might be suitable for the .308 model Tritium ACOG unit? I've never used one but the reviews seem to all be positive about it's durability and capabilities.
Bipod - Is there any unit that will work with the standard handguards? I would prefer to not have to modify the firearm any more than necessary and the current handguards are comfortable for me. Not surer what bipod options are without adding picatinny-rail style handguards.
I'd appreciate any help or suggestions anyone might have. I'm still reading threads here on the forum so I'm sorry if any of this has already been answered.
