M&P 15-22 Broke After 6 Rounds

I called S&W Customer Service today. They said they will send me a shipping label and that it should arrive somewhere between 5 and 10 business days.
When I asked why so long? he said "We are pretty backed up right now".

When I told him that the issue was the feed ramp shearing off, he said he hadn't heard of that issue before. I told him all he had to do was a search on the internet and he would get plently of info on other cases. His response was Hmmmmm.

I understand that all mfgs. have issues from time to time, so I am not going to make a determination on what I think of the support from S&W until after I get my firearm back. But give me a break, 5 to 10 days to get a label, and he hasn't heard of that issue?

Too bad Glock doesn't make a .22 AR. :D

Yup.... no doubt they are backed up with a variety of returns having issues he has never heard of before.

The good news is that the folks who work on returns seem to know what they're doing and your rifle should be ready to rock when you get it back.

DTD? WOW didnt know they went back THAT far. I thought the rifle's started at DTU, wow that rifle you have is one of the VERY first produced then. As the DTU are the most reported as having FTF's, ejector problems, etc etc. Your rifles mfg. date HAS to be mid or even early 2009 I would assume, that was a BAD time for the M&P 25 22 it seems.

Checked our records ... Starting in July '09 the first guns we received were DSX then DSZ , DTA , DTB and so on .

Is there a thread running where evryone's rifle is running fine ?

I think what people are forgetting is that on a gun specific forum like this, a majority of the posts will be from people having an issue. It's rare for someone to make a thread that simply says "my gun is working perfect".

Think about how many of these guns have been made and produced since it was released. Is it expected of S&W to have a 100% success rate? I'm sure if you knew the actual percentage of guns being returned for issues, you would be surprised how low it is. When S&W debuted the gun at the shot show in the plexiglass case, they took over 50,000 orders at that show alone, and the riffle wasn't even in full production.

They tested the crud out of it, at one point shooting 30,000 rounds through a test model. Magazine after magazine until they shot all 30,000 rounds at their private range in Springfield.

no, it is a very widespread problem. i know of gun stores in tennessee and virginia that quit selling these because they couldnt get a response from S&W about what was causing problems in the guns. I WILL report that since the new updates they have been running pretty smoothly around here. My cousin however just got a DTU serial number and has only had a few FTE (fail to eject) i hope it doesnt mess up on him.
