M&P 15-22: Merry Christmas to me!

I've been wanting a 15-22, and in Friday's paper a local shop had them advertised. My wife gave in, and we were waiting when they opened yesterday. There was one sitting on the counter, I fondled it a little and replied with those famous last words: I'll take it!

I took it out as soon as we got home and I'm in love! I tried it first with the open sights, then I put on a red-dot I had and it's perfect. I think I put about 150 rounds through it just plinking away and smiling stupidly. I quit when it got cold and I was tired of reloading.

I had a couple of feed issues, but I think they were both caused by my fingers catching the mag follower on the side and dragging it while it was trying to go up.

My first impression: A+++

All I want to do to it (as of right now) is get some rail covers and a sling for it.

My only complaint is that it only came with one mag. When something is this much fun I shouldn't have to stop and reload so much

Congrats on your 15-22. Sounds like you are another that enjoys shooting the rifle.

I guess cold is relative. I don't think of it being cold in FL, vs OH or upper midwest.

Can never have enough mags. Buy more. I load up at home so I can concentrate shooting at the range.

that's how I felt when I first got it... enjoy your new toy. I've been jonesing for extra mags too.

I bought myself one for CHRISTmas yesterday!!! My impression is the same as yours. Probably the funnest gun I've ever owned. Had feed issues because of hand placement on mag. Taking it back out today with an Aimpoint and foregrip installed. Got about 1,000 rounds on hand and don't plan on coming home with any of them!!!!

I'm from FL as well (east coast near KSC) and 60 is very cold to me, anything under 70 is jacket weather!

I also have a 15-22 and I absolutely love it! I was so happy to find out that it shoots the buck pack stuff, fun and cheap to shoot, can't beat that.

I've been perusing the web looking for different goodies I can get (this is my first "AR" style rifle) and it boggles the mind! I need 4 more mags (I bought a case with it that holds 5, and I can't leave those pouches empty) and a front sling mount and I'll be good...for now

I got my front sling adapter on ebay for 19.90 From Iweapons. It coemes from Isrial, but the guy gives you a few extras, like a sling, crankup LED flashlight.

Took a couple of my youngsters to a "First Shots" program at the local gun club last month, sponsored by NSSF. S&W had donated six M&P 15-22s with Aimpoint CompC3 dot reticle sights. I had to have one. It arrived yesterday, and I can't wait to get out to the range with a brick of ammo. Happy Labor Day!
