M&P 15-22 Safety alert from S&W

I've had a email, mine is in the post and should be with me within 2 days. Anyone in the UK still waiting, Sportsman Gun Centre are dealing with this in the UK. I was dealing with Smith and Wesson's European headquarters via email but the gauge is coming from Sportsman. Drop Sportsman an email or give them a ring. My last email to Smith got the issue sorted. They thought Sportsman had already sent them out, but I think Sportsman have been getting people to send the rifle back so they can charge Smith for checking them. I know someone who has already sent his to Sportsman but I held on to mine for the gauge to get here.

Still waiting for mine. Have a whole thread of emails back and forth but still no idea if OR when the gauge will appear. The advisor I was direct mailing couldn't or wouldn't even give me the depth so I could at least use feeler gauge.

Have checked with local Sportsman agent. Still no idea for him either.

Have to say, very disappointing for us Brits.

So I ask the question, same as previously mentioned in the thread, if there is anyone in US who has had there's and checked who would be prepared to ship to UK, please feel free to PM. I would be happy to cover the cost of shipping.

Thanks in Advance for any help.

Rob.

The gauge depth is mentioned several times in this thread.

Afternoon Guys

Bearing in mind it's now 5pm on a Sunday here in the UK, I've just had an email from the S&W International Sales Manager Europe, advising me that he will be sending me a checking gauge immediately :D

If that isn't service, I don't know what is :)

What a shame the UK Importers/agents lack the same level of integrity & Customer care.

He'a probably getting an ear full because of the poor service the importers are giving.

Glad you are getting one sent out. Hopefully the others in your aide of the ocean will get taken care of as well shortly.

Info for UK owners I have just received a tracking number for the gauge from sportsman gun centre. EXETER

48 Hour royal mail delivery. Had sent them an email asking for a gauge but had no reply until the above email came through 17:41 tonight 29/4 so fingers crossed.

Good news Lynsey :)

I'd love to know what the hell is going on though. I spoke to the Exeter branch and received attitude, yet you send an email & get results

Is it possible they got chewed out after both me & UK 15-22 had to go to the head of European Sales to get one? Or is it pure coincidence that you suddenly get a response? The conspiracy theorists would have a field day with this one :D

If it's any consolation, we sometimes have similar problems with importers in the States. For the longest time, I was not able to get additional magazines for my Catamount Fury. Century Arms, for whatever reason would not sell them or any other parts for the shotgun. Finally, other private, independent sources were able to find a work around. Last I checked, Century Arms still doesn't sell them.

I ordered my gauge back when I first heard about the recall but, I still haven't received it. This is very unusual for S&W.
Normally when I order a part, even if they're sending it to me free of charge...........I usually receive it within a week or two.

UPDATE FOR UK OWNERS JUST RECIEVED MY GAUGE AND MINE IS FINE.

IAIN IF YOU WANT ME TO POST TO YOU NO PROBLEMS, I OFFER IT TO YOU 1ST AS YOU WERE GOING TO DO THE SAME FOR ME.

IF IAIN DOES NOT NEED IT THEN WILL POST TO ANYONE IN THE UK THATS NEEDS IT.

WILL WAIT FOR A REPLY FROM IAIN 1ST THOUGH

CHEERS

I received my test gauge Monday, but have only just got around to checking my bolt, which passed with flying colours.

Also as above if anyone in the UK is struggling to get a gauge sent to them, I will gladly post mine on.

Many thanks Lynsey but I've just arrived home to find a gauge sat waiting for me. Now a very happy little camper :D:D:D

Same as Lynsey & UK15-22. Mine's available to anyone that needs it.

It's going to have to wait until tomorrow though because we're just about to dash out and go see Nick Mason on his 'Saucerful of Secrets' tour. Classic Pink Floyd :cool::cool:

Thanks for the heads up. I've got countless rounds thru my 15-22, since I purchased new 8+ years ago, but better safer than sorry. Just got back from taking it out to the range today as a matter of fact.

I still haven't seen the tool in my mail yet..any other's who have been waiting since March?

I ordered mine March 26th. Still no gauge. Shame on you S&W. This is unacceptable. The last call I made to S&W I was told they were on back order.

Why shame on them? If they are back ordered they are back ordered. Demand was overwhelming and you were late for the initial rush. Just sayin'.

Just measure it with a caliper or feeler gauge if you can't wait. The safe measurement has been posted several times earlier in this thread.

Ok, well I originally started this thread and have had my order in before I posted it. I have also called... still no gauge... Can I say shame on S&W?

Ordered mine 3-16. Still nothing. Hmm
Ordered another one under a different serial number on 3-30-19. That arrived today. My rifle checked out good to go.
Has anyone had a bolt that FAILED the gauge test?

i'm suspecting mine might be failing once the gauge arrives. because the breach face looks kinda shallow to me, compared to my pistol and by the looks of that gauge as well, although i can't tell how thick it is in that picture they put on document.. plus it's in the danger manufacturing date area.

that said.. i have dropped the bolt a whole lot ontop of rounds, no discharges yet. i'll still replace if it fails though, obviously

Still don't have mine. I checked with the gun shop I bought it from and they said I was good. I have about 500 rounds fired and no mishaps. I also took the bolt out and placed a 22 shell on the bolt where the gauge goes. It looked good to me so I shot at the range using caution. I will post when my gauge arrives (waiting since 3/26/19). When I first called, no one told me they were on back order. I waited 3 to 4 weeks, called and then I was told they were on back order. Still not happy about the wait. I would think they would have made plenty of gauges to go around.

Thank you

Big thank you to Destructo6 for sending his gauge to me all the was to UK. It is much appreciated. Very noble and kind gesture.
I will pass it forward when I finish with it with all the guys in the club.

Many thanks.

Great to hear at least 1 gauge made it to UK.
I never got mine, nor did anyone else I know.
I'm at around 10k through mine with no mishaps but there are another 8 guys at my club who are waiting to check their bolt.

A few of us got the gauges here in the UK if you read the posts myself and another few have offered to post to UK owners but to date no one has requested from me or the others!!

got my gauge today, fit perfectly.

bolt gauge

couldn't get order to go thru online a few weeks ago, so called s&w with my serial #; they shipped the gauge promptly, and I was able to determine that my bolt was ok...gave it to a buddy who owns a gun shop here in Dothan, AL so he can use it for his and any customers that need it...paying it forward :)

Ordered mine months ago, still not received it

Not bothered though, the 10's of thousands of rounds i've put through it and a caliper measurement of the bolt face tell me there's nothing to worry about. I only ordered one after clubs/shooting groups put a temporary 'ban' on using 15-22's until they were proven ok. As the ban has now been lifted i'm not going to chase S&W for it :p

Got my tool a few weeks ago, but have been busy.

Checked it last night, it fit flush. Passed.

Ordered my gauge on June 5 and it arrived June 15

My 15-22 s/n HBT74xx passed

Thank you to this forum for posting about the recall
