M&P 15 Sport. One range trip = sending it to MFG...

Because shipping would cost me more than what the gun is worth. On that slip i read that they replaced the BCG. Is this right?

Huh? S&W picks up the shipping if you do it the right way. Even if they didn't, the shipping can only be like $20 or so (based on my prior experiences). I would certainly think your rifle is worth more than that. Where are you getting your info from?

To ship a weapon from South Africa would be a challenge. Only real option is a local gunsmith or local SW dealer.

Shipping how?

It's been my experience sending a firearm to the manufacturer, on my own dime, at a UPS shipping depot that it costs around $80 one way. Overnight, declared as a firearm, insured.

I am very disappointed in S&W. I am not in America so i cant just send it back. Please tell us when you get your rifle back what they fixed so i can take my gun to a gunsmith please.

Call S&W. For warranty repair or service policy repair, they send you a pre-paid shipping label. No cost to you. Best part is that the rifle is sent directly back to you.

Why overnight? Ground is so much cheaper, right about where I said. Maybe $25 or $30 depending where you live, but nowhere near $80. Ground is insured and tracked and does not take more than 2 or 3 days, so there is no reason to overnight the rifle IMO.

Do you guys read? He said is NOT in the country. Whether or not S&W will pick up international shipping is the question. I would sure call/email and find out before resorting to the locals.

In the US, you can legally mail a rifle. That's even cheaper. I believe JaPes is thinking about handguns.

However, our friend does not have that option.

That is what the sheet says. I can definitely feel the difference when I pull the charging handle back. It feels smooth now, unlike before, it kind of felt rough. I am new to the AR platform so I didn't know what it was supposed to feel like. I do now!

yes shipping a firearm from south africa would cost in the 1000$ range, not to mention the legal hoops one must jump through to get import/export license etc.

This is a photo of my BCG, the gun hasn't fired more than 100 rounds and its already wearing down. Also my first AR so i don't know if this is normal or not. Like the OP mine also feels rough.

But i think i should first try some different ammo and different magazines before jumping to conclusions. Unlike the OP i'm not having this problem with every round.

Helminator please report back after a range trip, tell us how it went down.

Genocide,

Apologies. I didn't bother to read that you were form South Africa. I wouldn't give up on S&W Customer Support yet. Send them an e-mail detailing your situation and location. You have a new S&W rifle which carries a manufacturer warranty. S&W must have some method to honor warranties on rifles sold through their international distributors.

Just looking at the flawed rounds I would think it could be several issues:

1. Out of spec upper that causes the barrel to be out of alignment to the lower.
2. Flawed feed ramps.
3. Out of spec lower that causes intermittent feed issues.
4. Out of spec chamber that causes intermittent feed issues.

Or maybe something else.

I know, we just got sidetracked on the cost of shipping in the US....sorry.

I agree with you though. Just because the rifle was purchased out of the Country does not mean he doesn't have a factory warranty. I'd call S&W and see what your options are. They must have some type of international service.

Some pictures of my brass, also got some bent bullet heads, deep scratches on some of them.

All factory ammo. PMP .223

You got a problem and it's not ammo related. Get a hold of S&W and see what your options are as I said above.

That is exactly what my rounds looked like. It seems you may have the same issue. I would definitely find a S&W warranty center near you if possible.

Wow. Sorry for your troubles. I actually just shot my new sport yesterday for the first time but I didn't have the troubles you did. Mine ate 200 rd's. Winchester 55gr brass, Monarch steel 55gr and American Eagle 5.56 55gr. Not a single issue. I was pretty inpressed actually. I hit my 1st shot 100yrds without any adjustments on the front or rear sights. Don't give up on the rifle. This is the first issue I've seen on the sport. You just got a rotten egg. Hope S&W takes care of you. Good luck.
